The 14-year study involved children who received live MMR vaccine at the age of 14-18 months, then again at the age of 6 years, and adults in nursing schools and defence forces who received MMR vaccine as part of a long-term vaccination project in Finland. Approximately 3 million vaccine doses were delivered during the study period. GI symptoms occurred from 20 hours to 15 days after MMR vaccination and generally resolved within a week. The most common GI symptom was diarrhoea with or without vomiting (17 children), followed by gingivostomatitis (7), vomiting alone (5) and abdominal pain (2). eNS signs and symptoms included febrile seizures (5 children), headache (2) and ataxia (1). MMR vaccine, autism and mD: no link in Finnish study

Results of a Finnish study do not support the hypothesis that measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine causes autism or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
