NEARING A BREAK: The Dodgers tonight continue their final series of the first half with the middle contest of a three-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers. Los Angeles opened its 10-game homestand by dropping two of three games to the Mets, before rebounding to take three of four games from the Phillies, prior to the victory last night (5- 3). Following the four-day All-Star break, the Dodgers open the second half on the road with a 10-game trip to Washington (3 G), Atlanta (3 G) and New York-NL (4 G). The Dodgers’ 5.5-game divisional lead over the Giants matches their largest of the season (also: 5.5 games following the games of May 12 and July 9). The Dodgers are 12 games over .500, which ties their season high-water mark (22-10, following a win over the Marlins on May 12). Los Angeles has won three consecutive games, seven of its last 10 and 11 of 16 dating back to June 24. The Dodgers’ have the most home victories in baseball (32) thus far and their .667 home winning percentage ranks third in the big leagues, trailing the Cardinals (.738) and Mets (.682). Since 2010, the Brewers’ .688 winning percentage (11-5) is the highest mark by any visiting team at Dodger Stadium (min. 10 games). However, with one over the next two games, the Dodgers will clinch the season series with Milwaukee for just the second time in the last five years (2013, 4-2). The Dodgers are tied with the Giants for the most shutouts in baseball with 13. The club record for shutouts before the All- Star break is 14, set in 1963 and matched in 1970, 1974 and 1980. GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: Tonight is Juan Uribe bobblehead night, presented by Farmer John. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive the collectable depicting the former Dodger third baseman, who was traded to Atlanta in May. DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED: Congratulations to Dodger reliever Chin-hui Tsao who appeared in his first Major League game since July 14, 2007 last night, a span of almost eight years. Even more impressive, Tsao’s scoreless seventh inning earned him his first victory since May 11, 2005, when he was a member of the Kansas City Royals. According to ESPN Stats and Information, the 10 years and 60 days between Tsao’s wins are the longest since Johnny Lindell took 10 years and 289 days to collect his victories on July 18, 1942 for the Yankees and May 3, 1953 for the Pirates. A NIGHT AT THE BEACH: Tonight’s Dodger starter is another player who has waited a long time to get back on the mound as Brandon Beachy will make his first start since Aug. 20, 2013 at Citi Field while with Atlanta. Beachy has been recovering from a torn UCL and in five rehab starts for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City, he went a combined 1-1 with a 2.41 ERA (5 ER/18.2 IP). He last pitched for the OKC Dodgers on Monday, allowing three runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings, striking out five and issuing two walks. Beachy has made 46 career Major League starts in four seasons, posting a 14-11 record with a 3.23 ERA (96 ER/267.2 IP). To make room for Beachy’s reinstatement on the active and 40- man roster, right-hander Josh Ravin was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City and left-hander Matt West was designated for assignment. Earlier this week, the Dodgers released right-handed reliever Brandon League, who had been designated for assignment on July 2. In addition, the Dodgers outrighted left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp and he accepted his assignment. Dodger prospect Julio Urias returned to the mound yesterday for the first time since having cosmetic eye surgery in May. The left-hander was sharp, allowing just one hit and striking out three in 2.0 scoreless innings for the Arizona League Dodgers. HE WORKS FOR YOU: Yesterday, the Dodgers announced a limited ticket promotion to commemorate Joc Pederson’s participation in MLB’s Home Run Derby. The rookie outfielder and first-time All-Star is set to compete in the 2015 Gillette Home Run Derby presented by Head & Shoulders on Monday at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. The Dodgers’ ticket promotion will launch following the competition on Monday, July 13 at 8:00 p.m. PST and it will be valid through Wednesday, July 15 at 5:00 p.m. PST, while supplies last. The ticket offer will be valid for the Sunday, Aug. 2 game against the Angels when the first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a cap presented by Security Benefit. This ticket special is a tiered promotion: Fans will be offered a $5 discount toward ticket purchases for the Aug. 2 game and an additional $5 off for every round Pederson advances in the derby, for a maximum $20 discount. The ticket special is valid for purchases of tickets in the right-field pavilion, infield reserve, reserve MVP and executive club level. The Dodgers’ Joc Pederson Home Run Derby ticket offer can be accessed starting on July 13 at 8:00 p.m. through Wednesday, July 15 at 5:00 p.m., while supplies last, online by visiting www.dodgers.com/HRJoc. ALL-STAR GAME WEEK: On Tuesday, Adrian Gonzalez (fifth career All-Star selection), Zack Greinke (third selection), Yasmani Grandal (first selection), Joc Pederson (first selection) and Don Mattingly (coach on NL staff) will represent the Dodgers in the Midsummer Classic, marking the second consecutive season that the Dodgers have had four All-Stars (2014: Dee Gordon, Greinke, Kershaw, Puig). If anyone gets added this weekend, the club’s five All-Stars would be its most since 1995 (Raul Mondesi, Hideo Nomo, Jose Offerman, Mike Piazza, Todd Worrell). Major League Baseball’s 86th All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. Tomorrow, the Dodgers will have two participants in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game: catcher Kyle Farmer (US Team) and pitcher Juan Gonzalez (World Team). Pederson’s 20 home runs rank as the second most ever for an NL rookie before the All-Star break, behind only the 21 hit by Dave Kingman (1972, SF) and Albert Pujols (2001, STL), and are tied for the fifth most in the NL this year. Pederson will become the sixth player (eighth appearance) in Dodger history to take part in the Derby, joining Mike Piazza (1993- 94), Raul Mondesi (1995), Hee-Seop Choi (2005), Matt Kemp (2011-12) and Yasiel Puig (2014). On this date in 1978, Dodger legend Steve Garvey was named All-Star Game MVP for the second time in four years after going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI for the National League. Garvey also took home the hardware in 1974, when as a write-in candidate he went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
