EDUCATION WEEK , BOOK FAIR AND BOOK PARADE

THURSDAY, 4th AUGUST

The Book Parade will be held at 9:15am in the hall. We would love to see all students

dressed up as their favourite book character.

It may be a book that has always been their favourite.

It may be a book from a series of books.

It may be a book that is so engrossing they couldn’t put it down.

Your child can dress up as a character from the book. They can work as an individual or

as a small group with school-aged siblings or classmates. The costumes can be made

from borrowed clothing, cardboard, fabric scraps. Everyone is encouraged to be crea-

tive, remembering that there is no competition or winner. (No Super heroes or car-

toon characters please)

On Book Parade day your child will need:

* A costume (either as an individual or as a group)

* The book itself or a label (A4 paper/sheet of cardboard) showing the name of the

book and its author.

* Knowledge of the surname of the author.

Open Classrooms (Education Week) will be held across the school from 10.00 –

11.00am, immediately following the Book Parade. Parents are invited to visit their

children’s classrooms and see their wonderful work on display. This will be followed by

a morning tea for parents under the hall COLA.

The Book Fair will be held on Thursday, 4th August (same day as the Book Parade)

between 8:30am and 4pm. The children will be given a “Wish List” next week. There is

no obligation to purchase books that your child has included on the list. Each class will

be scheduled to come to the library throughout the day to make purchases. You can

come with your child if you wish, or you may prefer to browse before or after school,

or at a time that suits your family. Someone will be in the library all day for you to pur-

chase books.

The school receives a small credit from any Sales made on the day which we use to

purchase additional books. Our Book Fair organisation means that children will order

and pay for their books on Book Fair day. They will receive their books in several

weeks. Donations of books for the school library are always greatly appreciated.

IMPORTANT: Does your child know the surname of their

book’s author??

At our Book Parade rehearsal, and again at the actual parade, children

will be asked to sit in alphabetical order by author surname. It would

greatly assist the teachers if you could check whether your child knows

this vital information.
