PURPOSE

The Middleton Recreation Division’s purpose is to serve as a catalyst in the development, initiation, coordination, and the support for a variety of leisure time activities and facilities for residents of all ages.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

1. Internet: Classes or programs may be available for internet registration. By using the system, registration will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Registration will be done through RecDesk. Find the activities you want to register for: visit www.ci.middleton.wi.us and click on recreation programs to get access to the RecDesk site.

2. Mail-In: Mail in registration for all programs will be accepted beginning the dates listed. Early postmarks will be returned. Proof of School District residency required if check address does not reflect residency. Completed registration forms with payment should be sent to: Middleton Recreation Division 7426 Hubbard Ave. Middleton, WI 53562

3. Walk-In (7426 Hubbard Avenue): Walk in registration for all programs will be accepted beginning the dates listed and will continue until classes are filled. We do not accept phone registrations.

LATE REGISTRATIONSLate registrations will not be accepted, no exceptions. Registration deadlines are important, so please register early! They help us purchase supplies, apparel, and assign staff prior to the program start. Registration will not be accepted at the program.

TRANSFERSTransfers between classes must be done with a minimum of three days prior to the start of a class. After that time, transfers will not be accepted.

REFUNDSFull refunds will be made on all classes that are cancelled by the Recreation Division. Refunds will be honored for any written request made a minimum of 5 days prior to the start of the class or program. There will be no exceptions. Refund request forms will be mailed to you upon the Recreation Division being notified. Refunds will not be issued for unattended classes, weather related cancellations, or holiday dates. A $5.00 service charge is withheld for all refunds, unless the activity is cancelled by the Recreational Division. There will be no refunds issued once the program starts. Participants who miss classes due to illness, vacations, etc. will not be provided the opportunity to make them up.

MIN/MAX ENROLLMENTMiddleton Recreation will determine the minimum number of participants needed to hold the program, and reserves the right to cap enrollment when deemed necessary. If the required minimum is not met, program will be cancelled.

PROGRAM POSTPONEMENTS/INCLEMENT WEATHERAny program postponed due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled. The Middleton Recreation Division will post messages for all programs in case of inclement weather. If MCPASD closes, no programs will be held at the schools. If you would like more information about possible cancellations or postponements, check the city website at www.ci.middleton.wi.us or call the PROGRAM HOTLINE at 608-821-8357.

There will be NO classes and swim lessons on July 4th!

CONFIRMATION OF ENROLLMENTOnce you have registered, plan on attending at the listed times and dates. Please feel free to call to verify your enrollment and/or ask questions. The Recreation Division will only contact you if the program is full, cancelled, or there are changes.

AGE/GRADE REQUIREMENTSAll youth programs age restrictions will be based on the first day of the program. All grade restrictions will be based on the upcoming 2014-2015 school years. Age and grade requirements are set to benefit all children and to make instruction easier for the program leader. All participants must register for the correct class or they may be contacted to move classes or lose their spot in the program.

RESIDENT/NON-RESIDENTFor program enrollment and facility rentals, Residents are those that reside within the Middleton-Cross Plains School District boundaries. Non-Residents are those that are not part of the school district.

For the Aquatic Center admissions, Residents are those that reside within the City boundaries.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTAll in-house and online credit card payments are charged a non-refundable processing fee. This is charged by the processing company, not Middleton Recreation. No exceptions. ADAIf you require assistance or have special needs, please contact the Public Lands, Recreation, and Forestry Department.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEThere is limited financial assistance available. Please contact the Public Lands, Recreation, and Forestry Department for more details.

PHOTO POLICYMiddleton Recreation Division programs and events are often photographed for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be included in a Recreation Division photo, please indicate this to the instructor and/or photographer.

EMPLOYMENTThe Middleton Public Lands, Recreation, and Forestry Department employs many individuals to work with various programs and out in the field maintaining public lands. Contact the department to inquire about possible openings. Hiring takes place in January and February.

TAE KWON DO (AGES 5-7)This is an introductory class to the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do. Students will learn basic kicking and punching combinations, as well as increase strength and flexibility. CartooningLearning to draw can be fun, especially when we create silly characters, funny expressions and drawing sequences that tell a joke! This delightful program combines Young Rembrandts’ innovative, step-by-step drawing method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor, and their vivid imaginations. Classes are 75 minutes.

PreschoolYoung students are so eager to learn, and a joy to teach. Young Rembrandts instructors provide a nurturing and strong learning environment that expands preschoolers’ image vocabulary as they draw familiar images such as fish, teddy bears, rainbows and cowboys. We’ll concentrate on the skills of drawing and coloring while we develop fine motor skills, focus, listening, staying on task, patience and spatial organization. Classes are 45 minutes.

DrawingOur elementary-age curriculum is designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary. We believe that drawing is the bedrock skill required for future artistic success. We give them skills to express their creativity, and believe that all children can – and should – learn to draw. We provide all materials and teach new lessons each week in a positive and nurturing environment, which brings out the best in each child. This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning, using LEGO® WeDo™ Robots. Using LEGO® bricks, students build a dancing bird, a smart spinner, and a drumming monkey. They also learn how to program and operate their creations using a laptop computer.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: MASTER MACHINES (GRADES 3-5)

During the Mechanical Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of machines and mechanical systems. Students learn basics of fluid mechanics, simple machines, and other design and engineering concepts while constructing roller coasters, egg-drop vehicles, and an incredibly fast air powered dragster they keep at the end of the course. BREWER VS. CUBS BUS TRIP - MILLER PARK

(ADULTS 21 +) Grab your family, grab your friends and board the bus as the Verona Recreation Department heads East on Interstate 94 to watch baseball’s version of the “Border Battle.” As the cool spring nights begin, the inside of Miller Park will be heating up on Tuesday, June 8th as Verona invades Milwaukee to watch the Brewers and Cubs battle it out for state bragging rights. Cost of the trip is $65 which covers transportation on a coach bus, bleacher ticket, and tailgate catered meal at Miller Park. You are welcome to bring your own beverages.
