Election Rules

1. MONEY: All candidates are limited to $100.00 (retail value) of their own money for campaigning materials. Save receipts. Overspending may result in disqualification.

2. BANNERS: One six-foot banner is allowed. If it is handmade, it must use acrylic paint rather than tempera to avoid dripping. The school will determine placement. Banners must be approved (by Ms. Sierra) BEFORE they are hung.

3. FLYERS/POSTERS: No more than 30 flyers and 6 posters (half posterboard size because of space

limitations). Posting in the hallways requires Mrs. Sierra’s initials. Posting inside classrooms or on classroom doors requires teacher permission.

4. FAIR PLAY: Respect must be shown towards your opponents and their campaign materials. Damaging

or removing materials posted by other candidates may be cause for disqualification.

5. CAMPAIGN HANDOUTS: You may distribute pins, but no stickers are allowed. Candy and gum are also NOT allowed in your campaigning nor may they be passed out to students. Other handouts may be acceptable for campaigning, but must be approved by Ms. Sierra.

6. CONTENT: Slander/libel, religion, racial/ethnic bias, and character assassination are expressly forbidden and are grounds for disqualification.

7. BIOS: All candidates must submit a profile to post on the school SGA site (due Tues. 9/11 @ 3 pm): A) a high-quality (300dpi), school appropriate headshot, and B) a school appropriate slogan that meets the requirements of Rule 6, and C) a platform statement of 100-200 words as explained at candidate meeting
