Pet-ID Microchips run a 1 day Microchip Implant Training Course which covers all aspects of microchip technology, registration and reunification. The day is structured to ensure delegate are taught to microchip companion animals* safely and accurately and to understand the registration, reunification and processes involved with microchip databases. The course is open to delegates over 18 years old who must, with reasonable adjustments, be able to undertake the full range of competences required to achieve this qualification. It is ideal for companion animal breeders, animal wardens, veterinary and animal welfare staff. Cost £125-£165 per course, dependant upon location. For Lantra accreditation there will be an addition cost of £75. Courses held at the College of Animal Welfare (CAW) accrue 5 hours CPD and should be booked direct with the College, tel 0844 372 9410, admin@caw.ac.uk CAW Huntingdon 20th Feb 2015 13th June 2015 21st October 2015 * The microchipping of companion animals is considered a non-veterinary procedure and therefore correctly trained lay people can carry out this procedure on cats, dogs, rabbits and ferret. The microchipping of any other species is considered an Act of Veterinary Surgery and therefore should only be carried our by a qualified veterinary surgeon on under their direct supervision. The new Lantra course is expected to be up and running early 2015, in the meantime all those who successfully train with Pet-ID Micrchips will be adopted into the new scheme and those already trained through Pet-ID Microchips will also be grandfathered in. Pet-ID Microchips run a 1 day Microchip Implant Training Course which covers all aspects of microchip technology, registration and reunification.
