B 80 – 89

C 70 – 79

D* 60 – 69

F 0 – 59

*Please note: If you are pursuing a major in the College of Business, a grade of “D” or below will not be considered passing in any of the BBA core courses. MGT 3330 falls into this category. It will be required for you to retake this class and receive a minimum grade of “C” for you to graduate. Course Assignment, Examination, and or Project Policies Participation: This class will be interactive. You can participate by coming to campus for our in-person class or attend class through Zoom. With that, you need to be prepared to be an active participant in our discussions and activities each class day. This will require you to complete all readings prior to class for various class assignments and discussions. You will not receive any participation grades for class activities you are not present for. This means you have the opportunity to earn a 100 for that day’s class assignments or discussions if you are present, or a 0 if you are absent. I will drop your 2 lowest grades in this section. Quizzes: There will be 9 quizzes during the semester. Each quiz will consist of 10 questions. The quizzes will be given via WTClass. All quizzes will open on Monday at midnight and will close the following Sunday at 11:59pm (see calendar below). The quizzes are to be taken alone and not as a group. Exams: There will be 4 exams during the semester. All exams will be given via WTClass. All exams (except the final) will open on Thursday at midnight and will close the following Sunday at 11:59pm (see calendar below). Again, exams are to be taken alone and not as a group. Exam dates and times are strict. Be sure to notify me if you will be unable to take an exam for any reason. Failure to inform me in advance of your inability to take the exam will result in a score of 0. In addition, please be sure to give yourself enough time to have computer/Internet/technical problems and still be able to complete the exam on time. This means you should not wait until the last two hours of an exam to start. Personal Finances and Budgeting: You will be provided a series of 8 videos that walk you through the process of creating a budget in addition to some tips and important lessons regarding your personal finances. In addition, you will have 4 quizzes that will assess your knowledge of the material presented in the videos. StrengthsFinder 2.0 Paper: You will have 1 paper to write on your StrengthsFinder 2.0 report. This paper should be 3-4 pages in length, 12pt font, Times New Roman, double spaced with 1” margins. Please see more in-depth instructions in your Lessons folder.

Case Study Assignment: You will have 1 case study assignment. For this assignment, you will have a case to read, analyze, and answer the corresponding questions provided in the Lessons folder. Responses to assigned case studies should be between 3-4 pages, APA format, 12pt font, Times New Roman, double spaced with 1” margins. Please see more in-depth instructions in your Lessons folder. Guest Speakers: We will be having guest speakers presenting throughout the semester. I expect you to show the utmost respect when they are here; give them your undivided attention; and be prepared with questions. I strongly recommend you attend class when we will be having guest speakers. This is your opportunity to take advantage of the wisdom and lessons learned of local business leaders throughout their career. Assessments: The College of Business uses an on-going assessment process in all foundation level courses, including this one. The purpose of these assessments are to both ascertain, and ultimately ensure, that students leave each course with a solid understanding of this foundational material that is the building block for their continued study and success both in their academic career and ultimately their professional career. In order to accurately gauge your grasp of the material, the assessment is administered twice. The first pre-assessment will be administered during the first week of the course. It will serve to establish a baseline of your knowledge at the beginning of the course. The final assessment will be administered at the end of the semester and will provide a measure of how successful you were in assimilating the material during the semester. The entire process is in keeping with the management philosophy of, “That which does not get measured, does not get done.” To ensure you take the assessment with the same level of seriousness that is intended, your performance in the process is included as part of your overall grade in the course. Please see calendar below for all assignment due dates. All due dates and times are firm – no exceptions. Classroom Conduct In this course, it is my expectation that you will conduct yourself in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner. This includes all interactions with your classmates and me on campus and online. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated in this course and will be reported to the appropriate University officials . Communication for Course: The preferred method of contact for this class is for you to use Course Messages in WTClass. As for my communication response time, I will always try my best to respond to your messages in a timely manner. Please allow 24 - 48 hours for me to respond to your messages and phone calls during the work week (Monday – Friday). If you send a message during the weekend, it may not be answered until the following Monday morning. Obviously, there may be some exceptions to this time frame due to life circumstances and schedules. With that said, if you have a question regarding an assignment, it is in your best interest to ask it early. Cell Phones and Other Electronics: These are allowed in the classroom. You should be respectful and professional with the use of these electronic devices. These electronic devices should be used only for note-taking and the completion of in-class assignments. A student who is caught using their electronics for purposes other than pertinent class activities will jeopardize the use of electronics for the entire class. In

addition, the use of technologies for audio and video recordings is not permitted in the classroom without obtaining written permission from instructor. Additional Course Policies Grading Policies: Again, grades will not be curved anytime throughout the semester. If you should have a concern about a grade you receive on an assignment, you may submit a written appeal to me within one week of receiving the grade in question. This appeal should outline your specific concerns with the grade and supporting evidence as to why the grade should be changed. I will consider your written appeal and communicate with you regarding the grade. After this one week period, grades on your assignments will not be adjusted. Final course grades are non-negotiable. In addition, I understand your grade is extremely important to you; therefore, I will always try to be prompt with the grading and feedback for your assignments. Please allow 7 – 10 days for the posting of assignment grades. There may be some exceptions to this time frame. If there is an exception, you will be notified via Course Announcements. Academic Integrity, Plagiarism, and Copyright Infringement: Academic integrity will be respected in this course at all times. With that, I have a zero tolerance policy regarding scholastic dishonesty. Written assignments will be run through SafeAssign to check for plagiarism. An assignment with a high percentage match of another student’s or source’s will be considered plagiarism. Plagiarism is prohibited and will result in an automatic grade of 0 for the assignment. As a student, the burden of proof lies upon you to prove that scholastic dishonesty did not occur. The following are examples of scholastic dishonesty and plagiarism:

• The use of yours or another student’s work from a current or previous semester as your own

• The copying and pasting of information from a website, textbook, or any other source including

electronic media without clearly and properly citing the source

• Working with others to complete an assignment

• Having another person write and/or complete your assignments.

All materials created for this course are my intellectual property, and I own the copyright to them. Consequently, if you upload any of my course materials to any websites, it can be considered an infringement of intellectual property. Dropping the Course: If you are having difficulty with the course anytime during the semester, you should contact me as soon as possible. Should you decide to drop, the last day to do so with a guaranteed “X” is October 30, 2020. Students who drop after this date could receive a grade of “XF” if they have not communicated with me and are missing assignments. Finally, if you are struggling to complete the course due to health problems (yours or a close family member) or other personal matters, it is your responsibility to

meet with me to discuss your options as soon as possible. It is not acceptable to wait until right before or after an assignment is due to tell me about these issues. It is also not acceptable to wait until the last week of class to tell me about these issues. Late Work: All course work is due by the designated dates and times listed in WTClass Calendar. Late work will not be accepted. There is a great amount of flexibility with this course; consequently, it is my expectation of you to complete your assignments in a timely manner. Out-of-class Participation (OOCP): Throughout the semester, there will be various opportunities to earn your out-of-class participation point. The central way that you may earn this point is by participating in approved research being conducted in the field of organizational behavior or strategy. Details on approved research activities and how to sign up for studies will be posted on a service called Sona. To sign up for Sona please go to: https://wtamu-mgt.sona-systems.com and sign up using YOUR UNIVERSITY E-MAIL ADDRESS (do not use other e-mail accounts because you may not receive credit for your participation if you use a personal email). The list of available studies and timeslots for those studies are available on Sona. Studies and timeslots will be updated throughout the semester. Participation in these studies will provide insight into how many of the theories and concepts introduced in this class are generated and empirically validated. Please note that you will receive one credit per each approximately 1 hour study or 0.50 credit for each approximately 30 minute study up to 1 credit total—that is, you cannot receive additional credits for participating in the same study multiple times, and you can only receive a maximum of 1 OOCP credit. You receive full credit by showing up for and completing the research. Participants of OOCP will have the opportunity to earn up to 1% of their overall grade (i.e. 1 OOCP credit point = 1% of overall grade; 0.50 OOCP credit point = 0.50% of overall grade). The Sona System will advise your professor one week before the last day of classes if you have participated in research, and you will receive your OOCP credit shortly thereafter. Alternatively, you may earn your OOCP point in one of the following two ways:

(1) You may attend (in person or virtually) one of the monthly SHRM meetings. Each meeting is roughly an hour long and discusses topics relevant to human resources. CAUTION: This option is only available during the Fall and Spring semesters. To receive credit for attending, you will need to submit a one-page written summary about the meeting including the content discussed and its relevant importance to organizational life. There are limited SHRM meetings in a semester, and you are accountable for going to one of them if you would like to receive your OOCP point through this option. All papers written about attended talks are due through WTClass no later than 5 pm on the last day of class.

(2) You may engage in a mock interview through the Career Service Center (CS) at WT. To qualify for a mock interview, you must first attend a resume workshop though CS. Find the schedule and more information on workshops here. After attending a resume workshop, you must then schedule a 15 minute resume review with career services. Check the career services website for available dates and times. Please note that this resume review can also be done over the phone (806-651-2345) if you are

an online only student. Once you have attended a workshop and completed a review, you will be eligible to schedule a 30-minute interview session through BuffJobs/Handshake. More information on how to sign up for a mock interview is available on our website. If you are an online only student, you may do the mock interview over the phone, but you must coordinate with career services in advance. CAUTION: You are responsible for making sure you complete all the steps and sign-up for the available mock interview times. Space may be limited. If you miss the available timeslots for the mock interviews, you cannot receive credit for OOCP. Once you have completed the mock interview, CS will email you the interviewer’s report on your performance. Please submit the report to me through WTClass as evidence of your participation on or before 5pm on the last day of class.

(3) Any additional alternative that your course instructor deems as a suitable alternative.

Both the Research and alternative options are available on a first-come first-served basis. There are ample opportunities for all students throughout the semester, but if you wait until the end of the semester to earn your OOCP point, there may be no options left. You are responsible for proactively pursuing whatever option you choose. The more proactive you are, the more choices you will have available to you. Course Topics - Tentative Calendar of Readings, Topics, and Due Dates

This schedule is intended to be a general guide for the course. I reserve the right to change it at any time during the semester. **All assignment times/due dates are in Central Time (CDT\CST).***
