APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS Earn. Learn. Succeed. How does apprenceship work? Apprenceship is a post-secondary educaon like a college or university, but there’s a big difference. Apprences learn only a poron of their skills in a tradional classroom. They receive most of their training on-the-job, while working for an employer who pays a good wage. The employment is the primary requirement for an apprenceship - a job must exist in order for the apprence to be trained. The classroom instrucon is usually provided through the Wisconsin Technical College System. Who can be an apprence? Anyone 18 years of age or older who has a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must submit an apprence/employer applicaon to the Bureau of Apprenceship Standards. What are the benefits of apprenceship? A paycheck - From day one, you will earn a paycheck guaranteed to increase over me as you learn the skills of your new career. Hands-on career training - As an apprence, you can receive praccal on-the-job learning in a wide variety of occupaons, such as manufacturing, healthcare, construcon, technology and service careers. An educaon - You’ll get hands-on training and can earn college credit while earning a great wage! A career - Once you complete your apprenceship, you will be on your way to a successful long-term career with compeve wages, and lile or no educaonal debt. Naonal industry cerficaon - Upon compleon of your apprenceship, you’ll get a naonally recognized compleon cerficaon and can take it anywhere in the U.S. MGS Mfg. Group has been accredited in the Wisconsin Apprenceship Program for over 20 years. In 1996, our appren- ceship guidelines were presented to and approved by the state commiee. Many of those guidelines, which went above and beyond the standards set by the state, were incorporated into the official state contract. How does apprenticeship work?Apprenticeship is a post-secondary education like a college or university, but there’s a big difference. Apprentices learn only a portion of their skills in a traditional classroom. They receive most of theirtraining on-the-job, while working for an employer who pays a good wage. The employment is the primary requirement for an apprenticeship - a job must exist in order for the apprentice to be trained. The classroom instruction is usually provided through the Wisconsin Technical College System.
