A modern and reliable software and hardware complex with a cluster-based fail-safe structure and high bandwidth for transferring SMS and USSD messages over cellular mobile communication networks. The versatility of the solution used in the creation of SC.SMSC facilitates installing and configuring the system for the custom needs of the MNO. The system architecture
is oriented toward integration with any systems of third party manufacturers installed in the customer’s cellular network. Therefore, the product of Svyazcom is aimed at the expansion of the MNO’s existing technical capabilities, allowing a quantitative and qualitative increase in the network bandwidth in relation to transfer of SMS messages without losing the prior investments.
Key features
Short Message System
Benefits & advantages ReliabilitySC.SMSC is a system formed by a customer approved number of modules based on HP servers and Intel signal equipment or using the SIGTRAN protocol. Svyazcom solutions and redundancy principles allow the load in the system
to be automatically distributed, and additionally ensure the security of information. If one of the system modules fails, the load will be redistributed among the functional modules, which has been proven by actual experience of operation in GSM networks.
Bandwidth and scalabilityIn its minimum configuration, the hardware of SC.SMSC consists of an HP Proliant – class server integrated with the MNO signaling network using the SIGTRAN protocol. The actual performance of a single-module solution
depends on the conditions of the MNO’s network, and may reach 750–2,000 SMS per second. Additionally, Intel Septel SS7HDP signaling boards can be used instead of SIGTRAN. The single board configuration allows maintaining 64 MTP2 links and 4 E1 streams with
SMS reception from GSM (MAP GSM Phase 2+) and CDMA (IS-41) subscribers SMS delivery to GSM (MAP GSM Phase 2+) and CDMA (IS-41) subscribers SMS exchange with external services and content providers (SMPP 3.4) Short or anonymous number support Support for long/segmented messages Generation and sending of delivery notifications Reception and sending of USSD, support for USSD dialogs, coordination of USSD processing with any business logic, USSD-like service support for CDMA subscribers CDR file formation
Cooperation with prepaid billing using various protocols:
CAMEL Diameter through SQL queries
MNP supportIn addition to the standard capabilities, the SC.SMSC platform offers the following additional functions:
Set of SMS Extra services: Flash-SMS Inbound SMS message redirection to other subscribers or external services (e-mail)
Black/white lists for subscribers (individual configuration of reception or sending restrictions from selected subscribers/services)
Delayed delivery (SMS calendar) SMS Nickname SMS Autoreply SMS Signature SMS Secret (password-protected SMS messages)
Copy2Email (copying inbound/outbound SMS messages to e-mail)
Individual mailing lists (sending SMS messages to several recipients at once)
Support for the Collect SMS service (SMS sending at the expense of the recipient in case of insufficient balance of the subscriber’s personal account) Message transliteration Multilingual messages generated by SMSC itself Support for SMS messages in binary format
MoreMessagesToSend support Review and clearing of SMS sent but not yet delivered Generation of text and special delivery reports by several customizable criteria Capability of using various recipient number conversion masks depending on the location of the sending subscriber (location determined by router number). This functionality facilitates keeping several conditions for conversion of short (landline) numbers for each region separately, for example, in case of overlapping numbering capacities in different cities served by the same SMSC Detection of the subscriber’s LAC/Cell ID, uploading this information to the CDR And many other features

SC.SMSС
a performance of at least 2000 SMS per second. If required to maintain fail safety and guaranteed operation at above 2000 messages per second, a multi-module distributed load configuration is recommended. IntegrationThe use of the standard SMPP 3.4 protocol allows integrating SC.SMSC with various applications, including third party applications. UniquenessIn any configuration, SC.SMSC, in addition to providing independent SMS delivery and reception status, can be used concurrently with the MNO’s existing SMS centers, retaining the current numbers of SMS centers and all functionalities of the existing equipment. This option is convenient for a quick improvement of the performance of existing equipment with minimum additional service and configuration, which can significantly reduce the MNO’s costs of improvement of short message reception/delivery services. The cluster-based organization of the solution allows the load to be flexibly distributed among the SC.SMSC servers, which, in addition to high performance and fail safety, provides capabilities for “blurred” installation of the solution on the MNO network with a geographically distributed network and weakly connected segments while keeping a single SMSC number for all subscribers.
Built-in network diagnostics mechanisms allow for flexible regulation of bandwidth depending on the network load, which is important on critical days (holidays). Thus an MNO may select the priority traffic type (voice or SMS) by delaying the delivery of low priority messages (delivery reports, low-budget subscribers) for the most effective use of network resources while maintaining the company’s image in relation to VIP subscribers.
Try before you buyAn important advantage of Svyazcom is its readiness to demonstrate its SMSC in action. Our unique offer is a 4-week preinstallation of SC.SMSC in the MNO’s network, which allows the customer to make a realistic assessment of the technical potential of this hardware and software complex, as well as the high economic and commercial efficiency of purchasing it.
Another unique offer is the free box version of the platform, SC.Free SMSC. It is a virtual machine with pre-installed SMSC ready for integration and use.

SC.MMSC
Today, cellular network subscribers sometimes fail to use some of the MNO’s additional services due to the need to configure their devices. Some of them are reluctant to waste their time, some do not understand the functionality of their devices, and some fail to understand the manuals.
Svyazcom is offering MNOs the opportunity to simplify this process for their subscribers by installing the SC.SMS-Settings DMS system. The system can be installed in the minimum configuration which does not require integration with the MNO's signaling network (in this case, integration with the MNO’s SMSC via SMPP protocol will be required). The solution can also be virtualized.
Different modes of sending the settings to the subscriber:
Automatic sending upon detection of a new MSISDN-IMEI-IMSI triplet in the network
Automatic upon a command from the billing system (provisioning), e. g. on service connection
In response to a SMS/USSD command from a subscriber (settings request). The same command may be automatically sent by an application on the SIM card
On command from the platform’s web interface
On a provisioning command from any other system in the MNO’s network (e.g. a subscriber calls the subscriber support service and requests settings for his phone)
Bulk delivery of settings is possible over a certain subscriber list formed using the database of SMS-Settings or otherwise
Additionally, it is possible to organize the sending of various settings to different subscriber groups (e.g. using different Internet access points for subscribers of different pricing plans) Support for various types of settings
Basic: WAP; MMS; Internet for Java applications; Internet for the browser without using a WAP gatewayOptional: SyncML; Video streaming; Email; Push-to-Talk.
Delivery of different settings can be configured based on the IMSI (MSISDN) series. For example, for subscriber Internet access using different APNs depending on the pricing plan Delivery of SMS messages with settings, text notification, and advertisements Monthly phone model database updates Probabilistic settings
This function allows working with the terminals not included in the platform’s list. The most probable settings for the given phone are determined and sent
Support for different techniques of new subscriber detection:
Handling of CheckIMEI events from the MNO’s switching equipment. For this purpose, the installation package includes the SC.EIR platform, which is the fastest technique
Processing of CDR files received from the MNO’s switching equipment
Reception of information from other equipment in the MNO’s network (e. g., from HLR or EIR). Development of new interaction interfaces is possible
SMS from the platform can be independently delivered. For this purpose, the delivery package includes the SC.SMSC platform. Allows saving the regular SMSC licenses Provisioning to MMSC HTTP-provisioning from external systems to order settings Providing from various statistics, including based on phone capabilities
Optional. LiveScreen OTA functionality, facilitating the organization of services that subscribers will be able to use to view changing information (weather, balance, foreign exchange rates) on the screens of their mobile devices. The majority of banks already offer SMS banking, IVR, or Internet banking services. However, the USSD technology has several advantages: Free of charge (the USSD service is free of charge and available around the globe) Fast:
The customer is immediately notified about his query being accepted (especially relevant when roaming)
A response to the query may be returned within the same USSD session
Safe: USSD messages are not saved in the phone's memory
There are fewer intermediate nodes between the bank and the customer where the query text can be stored unencrypted (as compared to SMS)
User actions may be additionally secured with a password
If a subscriber is not active in the USSD menu for a long time, the USSD session will automatically terminate
Available: Free of charge, even when roamingUSSD is supported by the majority of phone models. At the same time, the number of subscribers using mobile Internet banking is under 20%, because Internet access often requires additional configuration and payment
Easy to use: A simple menu with just a few itemsNo need to remember various SMS codes (no need to keep in mind the formats of message commands)
No need to download any software Operations frequently performed by the customer may be saved as “Templates” under a separate menu item

Adding advertising messages at the end of USSD responses from various services in the MNO network will help deliver information to subscribers in a reliable and effective way. The platform supports both regular USSDs and complex dialogs (USSD menus).
The platform may function either in cooperation with the MNO’s USSD center or independently Quick and easy integration into the MNO’s network
High fault tolerance High productivity Multilingual support
Modification of USSD message textsInsertion of text into a USSD response can be organized in two ways:1. In specific USSD queries, e.g. available balance requestOnly specific queries are routed to the platform. The platform will form the response text and add the advertising information to it. In this case, in addition to the advertising messages, the response text itself has to be specified on the platform2. Processing of any USSD queriesThe platform requests the balance through a USSD-MO query to the existing USSD center of the MNO in the same way as if done by the subscriber. The received response is supplemented with advertising information according to the required parameters
The following parameters can be considered during the modification of USSD messages:
USSD query text (prefix) Subscriber number Advertising message validity period Time of day specified for each advertising message
Total length of the modified USSD response (limitation of USSD response length)
History of ad displays per subscriber (e.g. an advertisement should not be displayed more than once per day)

Auto callback platform for subscribers in roaming
The subscribers are offered an opportunity to save money while roaming, which results in higher subscriber loyalty The convenience of the service promotes higher traffic and higher ARPU by including subscribers who otherwise would not have been able to make their calls
SIP and CAMEL support The subscriber’s language can be determined, and information messages can be made in their native language Integration with various billing systems
Key features
Benefits & advantages
In some cases, the outbound call rates while roaming are somewhat higher than the inbound call rates. Using the Callback technology, MNOs may reduce their subscribers’ costs and, consequently, improve their loyalty. The proposed solution is designed for the automatic provision of the callback service to roaming subscribers.
In order to provide the service, the platform intercepts the call and, without picking up, plays a notification, and then drops the call. After that, calls are made to both subscribers (the customer who ordered the service and the recipient); if they both pick up, a connection is established between them, and the call is billed. The platform uses the Intelligent Network protocols (IN CAMEL/INAP).
Automatic callback without need for request; the service covers all inbound calls while roaming. The subscriber needs to connect the service to be able to use it Reception of service connection/disconnection requests (SMS/USSD commands, HTTP provisioning) Reception of callback requests (SMS/USSD commands): even if the service is not connected, the subscriber may use it by manually sending a request Management of IN subscriber triggers in HLR when the service is connected or disconnected
Flexible request processing: SMS notification of subscribers about the status of their requests
Notification of subscribers about registering in the network of a non-recommended MNO
Management of acceptable groups of directions both for Subscriber A and Subscriber B. The direction sign is recorded in the call details
The logic for postpaid and prepaid subscribers may vary

The SC.EIR (Equipment Identity Register) platform is a hardware and software complex registering subscribers and their terminals as soon as they appear in the network. To do this, the platform integrates with the MNO’s switching equipment and processes the CheckIMEI queries received from it, which are configured to contain IMSI and MSISDN. The data retrieval and analysis process supports all IMEI/IMEISV lengths specified in 3GPP TS 23.003.The initial purpose of such systems is blocking blacklisted devices from operating in the network. In addition to the main function, this solution can be used to optimize the operation of DMS, SMSC, and the operator’s billing system. The following tasks can be performed in the course of interaction of EIR with DMS: Detecting a new subscriber/terminal immediately after they appear in the network, and performing appropriate autonegotiation Keeping the device change history of each subscriber Ability to remove the necessity to place specialized software on SIM cards for automatic configuration request
This reduces the load on the subscriber support service and SMSC, and improves the delivery of additional service configurations, which the subscribers will be able to use almost immediately after switching their device on.The platform can perform the following tasks in interaction with billing: Marketing and other campaigns based on automatic subscription of services for subscribers meeting certain criteria. The following functionality is available for this task:
Multiple campaigns can be held simultaneously Eligibility for the campaign can be based on the IMEI, TAC, IMSI, MSISDN lists or a combination thereof
Commands to either connect or disconnect various bonuses can be sent to the billing system
The logic may take into account the subscriber’s participation in other campaigns, as well as their history of participation in the same campaign
Commands can be sent to the billing system using the throttling settings and a retry mechanism
Key features
Subscriber and terminal registration and control system
Reception and analysis of Check-IMEI Extended events from MSC/VLR Generation of responses to the switching equipment (whitelisted/graylisted/blacklisted) Detection of new IMEI-IMSI-MSISDN triplets in the network
Loading IMSI-MSISDN lists from the billing (if necessary) Generation of queries to external systems upon detecting a triplet meeting certain criteria Adetection can be deleted.Out of date detections are deleted automatically
Preparation of IMEI-IMSI-MSISDN triplet caches at first launch Work logging and statistics collection Platform monitoring Backup copying and other safety mechanisms Administrator web interface
SC.EIR/CMEIR
31
Benefits & advantages Operation modesThe SC.EIR platform can operate in three modes.1. EIR emulator mode
The platform always responds whitelisted to the switch, and then performs all other functions. The main function is rapid detection of terminals in the network which meet certain criteria, and generation of triggers to external systems.
2. Real EIR operation modeThe main function is to prevent unauthorized equipment from appearing in the network. Integration with CEIR (Central EIR) can be performed for this function; alternatively, the platform itself can serve as a single base for several MNO (see next mode of operation). If a terminal gets registered in the network, additional verifications follow.
3. Operation in the Central EIR mode (this version of the platform is called SC.CMEIR – Central Mobile EIR)To support this mode of operation, the central EIR base is installed, for instance, at the regulator’s site. The management of all lists (black, white, and gray), as well as reception of statistics and reports, are performed through this node. Operational parts of EIR, integrated into the MNO’s signaling network, are installed at the operators’ sites. The operational parts receive the information
used to control subscriber terminals from the central base, and transfer detailed reports of their operation to the CMEIR base.
The following tasks can be performed using SC.CMEIR platform: Simultaneous prevention of using illegal equipment in the networks of several MNOs (for instance, all MNOs of a country) Linking the device to the subscriber. Two scenarios are possible:
The subscriber links their device to their SIM card to prevent other persons from using the device
Automatic linking of devices to subscribers upon first use of a given IMEI
Capability to create a premium service of registration in the network with any devices (IMEIs)
Different logic can be applied to roamers and local subscribers.High ProductivityThe company portfolio has installations with the following peak capacity: storage of 150 million unique triplets 10000 MAP_CHECK_IMEI operations received per second capability to sent up to 1000 triggers per second to external systems reception of files or HTTP queries from
the billing with updated IMSI-MSISDN bundle, limited to the half of the daily active subscriber base
The actual performance of the solution depends on the MNO network conditions, and may be linearly increased through horizontal scaling of the system.Reliability and StabilityIn the basic configuration, the SC.EIR platform is installed on two dedicated servers. This number may increase in order to increase the platform’s reliability and performance. Duplication principles allow the load in the system to be automatically distributed and also ensure the security of information. Self-diagnostic tests are used to check whether the equipment is operating correctly, without any effect on the platform’s performance.Integration and Options for ExpansionSC.EIR can be easily integrated with the solutions of any manufacturers. The platform has a modular structure, which allows separate software components of the system to be placed on dedicated hardware for scaling, performance improvement, and increased level of integration with the MNO network.
The following functionality expansion options are possible: Modification of interfaces to external systems in order to send triggers to them Expansion of a functioning SC.EIR platform to a SC.SMS-Settings platform (DMS system) Upgrade of SC.EIR platform to the LBS (Location Based Services) function
Unique SolutionIn addition to the standard capabilities, the SC.EIR platform offers the following additional advantages:
Creating and keeping up to date a database on all subscribers and their terminals for further processing, analysis, and report formation Rapid detection (under 10 seconds after appearance) of new IMEI-IMSI-MSISDN triplets in the network Capability of interaction with MSC/MSS of various manufacturers, both directly or through STP Capability of interaction with MSC/MSS using the MAP protocol both on top of a SS7 network and through a SIGTRAN connection (M3UA) Capability for macroregional use of the platform, where each EIR processes detections of local subscribers, and the detections of subscribers from other regions are sent by it to their home EIR

Ensure and support MNP processes
Key features
Benefits & advantages
All information required for routing is received from the main database of ported subscriber numbers (the MNP-SRF database is updated along with the updates to the main database) Local service of SendRoutingInfo query from all MSCs of an MNO operating MNP-SRF in its network:
Reception of all SRIs for voice calls Reception of all SRIs for SMS Processing of SRI queries and response to them with a routing number (MSRN)
Proxy operation The SC.MNP-SRF platform can receive all other traffic while processing only the traffic addressed to the platform and sending all other traffic unchanged to the HLR.
Operation as a self-sufficient and single profile database
SC.MNP-SRF does not require constant connection with the general ported number database to process SRI calls. This functionality is especially relevant for the MNOs providing service at large territories, as it significantly reduces the risk of losing the communications channel between the ported number database and other remote nodes involved in the MNP processes.
Provision of SMS Firewall functionsAs the SC.MNP-SRF platform becomes the platform managing the routing of SMS traffic, it is convenient to supplement the installation with the SC.SMS Firewall platform, capable of implementing the following functions:
Identification and blocking of bulk SMS sending
Identification and blocking of various types of malicious SMS traffic (SMS-Flooding, SMS-Faking, SMS-Spoofing, SMS-Smishing)
Statistics collection. The basic list of statistical reports on the platform is as follows:
Number of ported subscribers by donor and recipient MNOs
Number of active subscribers by portability
Number of provisioning queries for subscriber profile change
Total number of SRI queries Total number of SRI queries related to voice calls
Total number of SRI queries related to SMS sending
Support for MAP GSM and IS41 CDMA protocols Configurability of various SRI processing scenarios Capability for connection of all SMS Firewall functions Support for all necessary traffic types

SC.Data&Media Gateway
We offer you SC.Deep Packet Inspection (SC.DPI), a highly efficient and reliable solution. The platform performs in-depth analysis of Internet users’ traffic in the networks of both MNOs and ISPs, and can selectively manage the data flow of each subscriber based on this analysis. The functionality of the platform combines the two major approaches of DPI systems: Per subscriber with different bandwidth and download limits applied to different types of subscriber traffic (priorities or QoS by traffic types or directions, depending on the pricing plan)
Per-servicewith general limits for each traffic type which are applied to the entire data flow through the platform (maximum proportion of the platform’s bandwidth)
The coordinated application of these features allows the bandwidth of the MNO’s channels to be used efficiently.

This gateway is designed to meet the needs of WAP 2.0 and multimedia applications, especially MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and Java downloads. With WAP providing the underlying protocol support for multimedia object delivery to mobile clients, the explosive growth of MMS services is placing heavy demands on conventional WAP gateways.
SC.WAPGateway provides full support for WAP v1.1, v1.2, v1.2.1, v1.3 and v2.0 WAP clients.
High performance solution provides up to 20000 simultaneous GPRS-sessions per server Monitoring system provides high failover Easy integration with all operator platforms
Flexible, modular system provides extensive functionality
Provide the functions of a server transmitting data HTTP (WAP) Interact with mobile device via WAP v1.x and v2.0 protocols Interact with GPRS equipment Extensive administrative features via web and CLI interfaces
Administrative interface (web) Apart from basic options, the platform has additional features:
Transferring subscriber’s MSISDN in HTTP-head to web server (e.g. for automatic authentication)
Working as Proxy Radius

SC.WAP Gateway
HTTP-proxy module allows interaction with mobile devices by WAP 2.0 protocol. Also used for requesting and downloading resources from Internet. WSP module allows interaction with mobile devices by WAP v1.1, v1.2, v1.2.1, and v1.3 protocols. This module transforms download requests from binary WAP-format to HTTP-format. After downloading, it transforms the HTTP-reply back to binary WAP-format and sends it to the subscriber's device. Resource downloading works via the HTTP-proxy module.
Optional Data & Media Gateway module is made for tariffication of WAP and Internet traffic depending on content of data, in contrast to standard methods of tariffication, based on volumes of consumed data traffic. For example, if a user tries to access VAS service via SC.WAP Gateway, he/she will get a notification about the service price, and if the user accepts the terms, he/she will get the service and his/her account will be charged.
Radius server module works with the user's session and authentication. Available working on its own, or transparently as a proxy-server when requests are redirected to another Radius Accounting server. This module interacts with the operator's GPRS-node (GGSN). Network management module allows managing dedicated applications and collecting statistical data.
Watchdog module in case of a failure starts up the automatic recovery of the SC.WAP Gateway system.
