Dear Parents

Thank you to all of you who came to the Summer Fête last Saturday. It was a hugely successful event and I must thank the Friends for

all their hard work. It is hoped that we have raised almost £7,000 which is a remarkable amount for one event. As you will be aware all

proceeds go towards activities and resources for the children in the school.

Collegiate Video

It has been an extremely busy time in school this week. We have had a film crew in for two days. They are producing a video of ‘A day in

the life of a Collegiate pupil’. I will let you know as soon as the final version is approved.

Year 13 Leavers’ Ball

It was lovely to see so many pupils at the Leavers’ Ball on Saturday and my thanks go to Miss McDowell who spoke so knowledgably

about each of the Year 13 pupils.

Sports Day

On Monday we have Sports Day at Costello Stadium and it would be lovely to see as many

parents there as possible. All pupils will be attending and will return to school at the end of

the day.

Gifted and Talented Days

We have welcomed over three hundred pupils from local Primary schools into school this

week. They have been involved in a wide range of activities and I would like to thank all of

the staff and pupils who helped ensure the days ran smoothly, in particular Mr Stephenson,

the school’s coordinator for the Gifted and Talented programme.

Reading Week

Thank you very much for all your support with the reading week. I do hope that you were

able to view the video. Over the summer, where necessary, please continue to encour-

age your child to read for pleasure.

Pavilion

Work will start on the demolition of the pavilion next week and as such there may be

some large machinery on site. Please be assured that we will try to keep disruption to a

minimum as this building work commences.

Summer Newsletter

I will be sending out a summer newsletter in late August. There will be some important information contained in this letter and if you

have changed your address or email address I would be grateful if you would ensure that that the school is informed as soon as possi-

ble.

Year 12 Business and Economics

Visit to Coca Cola

On Wednesday 22 June, 18 Business and Economics pupils visited the Coca Cola plant at Wakefield. We were given an informative talk about the company followed by a tour of the plant where we were lucky enough to see both bottles and cans being filled and pack-aged; particularly impressive was the huge automated warehouse. This was a really interesting insight into the manu-facturing industry. SK

Also a massive well done to Kirstie Thomson who has been selected to represent the region in Netball, after attending trials last week. AD
