Palmer’s big news of 2013 is his engagement to his longtime partner Laura. They will be married at Sun Peak’s on March 1, 2014. We are so excited and happy for them. Palmer continues to work as a GIS technician and loves what he does and Laura has just started a new Tor Nicholas has taken a year off from University (so to speak). When he was unable to find the financial support for his PHD from the schools he was considering, he took a one year job as a researcher in the Ag Ec department at the University of Guelph. One of his published articles made headlines on the front page of the business section of the “Globe and Mail” and even sparked a call from the “Prime Minister’s” office. We had the pleasure of being at his Master’s defense and are so very proud of him. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Guelph campus with him and meeting his academic friends and loved our stay at “Lake of the Woods”. Tor will spend this summer presenting at Ag Ec conferences all over the world so we are happy to have him home for a couple of weeks this Xmas! Anyone who is saying the honeymoon is over for Stefano & Caitlyn, doesn’t know these two! You would think that with Caitlyn holding down the fort with three jobs and Stef immersed in his third year of med school there would be Mom, and hope you get your wish and join Dad soon. A special note to Rum: You are my strength. I watch you go visit Pop every day. I know it’s so hard to watch him struggle with his dementia. It was all about the boardwalk in 2013. The lake was high once again and it was time to “Get her done!” With just 80 wet feet to finish and work parties in May and September it All went very smoothly! Special thanks to my nephews, Scott and Matt, who

helped with the blood, sweat and tears, as well as my ranting and raving! Fishing continues to be tough but we are getting better at it and I am certain once we master chronomid fishing, they will come easy. Fishing in mid-October continues to be the highlight of the year with big rainbows coming into the flats and lily pads right in front of the Ranch stalking the Kokanee eggs. Same story as last fall, cast out a leech and hook’m! Lot’s of action, right in front of Sandy’s Beach! Can’t ask for much more! Already on the calendar for 2014! Don’t miss it! We also plan to spend this New Year’s at the Ranch! A full schedule of cross country skiing, ice fishing and frolicking in the snow! Our plans for

WSR remain the same, we will build our home on the lake in 2017 and in the meantime we will pitter and patter around the Ranch, working on the road, the garden, the boardwalk and anything that draws our attention, in between our many fishing trips. Hope you consider a visit up to the Ranch in 2014. Make it HAPPEN!

Warm Springs Ranch Update

Bubba & RT on Spitfire

RGT Message – I continue to mow fairways and set pins at Morgan Creek (great crew) and still help in the BLE office. My mantra is that my life is laying lines, on the golf course riding a tractor and on the lake, casting from my boat and I am very happy, healthy & content!. On the personal side – with the loss of my second wingman, “the Dingo” and watching “the Captain” and Tracy’s mother slip away, I strive to make the most of each moment that is shared with me. I am so proud of our sons and happy for the life they are building and for the people they have chosen to share it with. I will continue to appreciate the love, kindness and support I am blessed with from TEAA and focus on her our family and the Ranch while trying to do my best to appreciate and enjoy every moment given to me! Family is everything!....Make a difference!... Make it happen!” and God Bless!

Memories are a part of your future, make one TODAY!

Sandra Mae aka “The Dingo” finally succumbed to Canine Degenerative Myelopathy, a disease very similar to MS. She put up a valiant struggle and insisted on being with RT every moment whether it was in the car, golf cart or on the boat. She loved loved fishing and being at the Ranch which is where her ashes and spirit are now! She was a great wingman and fishing partner and she will be sadly missed. We have named the Ranch

boat launch “Sandy’s Beach” and posthumously award her the 2013 “WSR Fish finder of the Year”! Miss you Dingo!

Tor and Papa @ Hamilton

After countless hours on the water, searching every nook and cranny of Ruth Lake, the votes are in and we wish to congratulate the 2013 Warm Springs Ranch Fisherman of the Year, “TEAA” aka Tracy E. Atherton. No one at the Ranch fishes harder and with more passion than TEAA. Well done! *2013 is the first year that all species of fish caught in the lake qualify due to the result of a legal challenge!
