Founded by Kieren and Cath Mallon in 1991 and 1998, Meridian Construction and Meridian Joinery provide an honest, high quality building construction service for new builds and renovations within the residential and commercial markets nationally.

We have experience carrying out commercial renovations, interior fit-outs and refurbishments in the retail, hospitality, education and health sectors. Our in-house joinery service allows us to produce bespoke furniture and cabinetry to meet our clients specific requirements. Our project managers work alongside our clients, guiding them through the process entire way. We’re home owners ourselves and treat each client as a member of our family. We can produce kitchen and bathroom cabinetry in-house, allowing it to dovetail neatly with the construction schedule and make custom requirements easily achievable. Our in-house kitchen designer helps home owners to realise their dream kitchens.

our flexibility allows us to work with architects, interior designers or we can design and develop original concepts to meet your needs.

Our speciality is the build and creation of custom designed internal fixtures and cabinets. The possibilities are endless and previous projects include: domestic kitchens, storage, display shelves and cabinets, home entertainment centres, commercial reception areas, boardroms, showrooms, retail fitouts and where fine design, individuality and quality craftsmanship is required.

Meridian Construction was founded by Kieren and Cath Mallon, and began trading as Malbuilt Ltd in March 1995, becaming Meridian Construction Ltd in March 1999. the past 18 years has seen the company continually grow and evolve.

Kieren is co-founder of Meridian Construction, and has been involved in the construction industry for nearly 30 years – the last 22 running his own businesses based in Auckland. His approach is based largely on relationships and partnering, and he believes a business is only as good as its people. Kieren is also heavily involved in the advocacy side of the building industry.

ProjeCt brief: Interior fit-out for existing cafe

Sierra contracted Meridian to completely refurbish their cafe in Mt Eden. The existing building is quite old and excellent detail was required to facilitate a wonderful finish. The attention to detail was essential with a critical eye cast over all aspects of the work. The client was delighted with the final result.

ProjeCt brief: New build: four apartments and retail at street level (due for completion 2015)

These apartments look out from Milford across to Rangitoto, the views are magnificent! Meridian were the builders of the architecturally designed units. The construction consisted of a detailed foundation, pre-cast panels and flooring. The fit-out was designed as we went and Meridian Joinery manufactured the kitchens. The ground floor retail has been built to specific requirements.

ProjeCt brief: New build for Carls Jr Restaurant

This was one of several new Carl’s Jr restaurants that Meridian Group worked alongside Forsgren NZ ltd to develop. Meridian Group had total project management capabilities for this project, which included assisting with site procurement and negotiations, procurement and installation of internal operating equipment, as well as the full build and interior fitout of the restaurant, in-keeping with the brand design. Meridian Group custom made many of the design features in-house.

ProjeCt brief: Fit-out of new store

This shop fitout project was located in Westfield Mall at 277 Newmarket, which meant having to work alongside our client to ensure minimal interruption, as well as working to Westfield’s constraints. The componentry was made in Singapore, and the Meridian team constructed it to the highest standard. Weekly reports back to our Sydney-based client were always thorough, and on time. Good management of sub-contractors and project planning made sure that this project went smoothly, was completed to a high standard, on time and with minimal interruption.

ProjeCt brief: Interior refurbishment of car showroom

The refit and alterations of this existing car showroom included a new building frontage, new roof and new windows, as well as the complete revamp of the interior. The challenge to allow our client to continue trading throughout the project was met by our team, and the client was very pleased that business could continue with only minimal interruption. The project was completed on deadline, in time for the client’s fixed re-open date.

ProjeCt brief: Rebuild of fire-damaged house

Meridian Group was engaged to complete this rebuild of a fire-destroyed house in Whangaparoa by AA Insurance ltd. This meant managing our client’s expectations and budget, as well as ensuring that the home owner was happy with their new home.The house was built to new building legisation and completed on a quick deadline.
