Mercury is the bridge between host, AS/400 and office world. With conversion of print data in standardized formats, Mercury offersmanufacturer- and hardware independence to the user. The combined usage of all resources results in a high cost saving potentialfor the user.Overlay- and forms management replace cost intensive matrix printingsystems and makes the usage of pre-printed paper forms redundant. The implementation of a customer workflow with Mercury saves time andmoney with concurrent safeguarding of the print process.Page based interpretation of print data within the Mercury rules systemallows customer specific forms generation and forms control.Accounting and device management detect hidden costs and providecomprehensive transparency ‚all around printing‘.
Which benefits and advantages does Mercury offer?

Easy configuration of Mercury processes with rules.Combination of multiple rules is possible, e.g. data conversion – formsmerging - cluster & reprint.Input / output filter compensate printer specific control codes, that means with Mercury a „generic“ printer driver can be used.Administration of host, AS/400 and Windows print data with Mercury as anindividual output management tool.Complex customer workflow processes can be automated with the fieldscanner in combination with systems of rules.PDF generation and email distributing structures allow paperless dispatching. With overlay and dynamic forms processor, new applications can begenerated from raw data formats (incl. barcode and OMR module).

The modular concept of Mercury
Integrated all-in-one-solution: Connectivity, emulation, overlays, forms, barcodesand comprehensive print and job management functionality.Depending on emulation or task, various virtual printer can be created, whichcan print on one physical printer.Intelligent job & queue management results in an optimum load of the Mercurysystems and the attached printing systems.AFP, Metacode/DJDE, XES, VIPP, IPDS and other data stream conversions, also possible within multiple simultaneously working emulations.String- and record-change-filter for individual adjustments;code-page-filter with international character sets for worldwide active customers.Document flow control for each network printer with PJL, based on the realprinted pages („page-event-feedback“).Support for all network protocols for attachment of LAN and host, AS/400systems incl. SNA IBM S/370 channel attachment(Prerequisite: Mercury DCI channel interface card).

Job Interpreter for paper tray control
With the help of the Job Interpreter, any desired ready for print PCL &Postscript print data streams can be parsed for various paper traycommands.
Depending on the requirements and possibilities of the printing systems, those paper tray commands can be modified and adjusted to the printers‘sneeds.
The handling of the Job Interpreter is interactive via the GUI.
The printer specific mapping possibilities are automatically displayed tothe user.
The print jobs itself can be redirected to any desired printing system.

Mercury & Forms
Mercury Forms Builder is an application for graphical creation of print jobs.
The job sequence is displayed as Job Definition within a tree structure.
Within a Job Outline window the print preview of any page can be seen.
The layout of the page with the placeholders for data fields is created withina graphical editor.
With attaching to an ODBC data base, the job layout can be filled with data.
ODBC supports:
• Server based data basesSQL-server, MySQL, etc.
• File based data basesMS-Access, DBase, etc.
• othersMS-Excel files, ASCII, etc.
