LOCATIONValdebebas neighborhood, Madrid

PROJECT AREA208.200m ²

FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMESHOPS: eperson equipment, home equip-ment and others comparative possessions.LEISURE: restorationn, cinema, recreatio-nal spaces, event spaces, playground, out-doors activities...OTHERS: gym, spa, beauty salon...

In this area we have several special ele-ments of large dimensions, which have been taken into account for the project. Firstly, the T4 terminal makes the view from the air very important, so the roofing floor has to fulfill the function of attracting visitors who arrive in Madrid by plane. Se-condly, we have the Justice Campus, still in development, that “compete“ with it in the aerial view of Valdebebas . Finally we have the Forest Park together with the “Sun and Shades“ Central Park that take up much of the area. Somehow Shopping Forest has been considered to be an extension of the-se parks, therefore has outdoors spaces with vegetation where people can go for a walk and perform different leisure activities .

*The represented public transport network is planned in the Valdebebas district deve-lopment.

This project carries out a multipurpose buil-ding on a smalholding with very small di-mensions ( 15x20m ). The exercise aims to improve the spatial conditions of the existing buildings in the same street and to become a combination of uses, so that the street gets wrinkled becoming vertical. There are several factors that determine the project, such as dividing walls with empty spaces for earthquakes, corner plot and the maximum height of 31 meters.

As a solution, an elevated building suppor-ted by two service core is proposed, so that the ground floor becomes free and used as a square and an extension of the street. In addition, a distribution of uses by floors has been chosen, converting the considered programme into a more private one on the top floor and vice versa. Finally it should be pointed out that the LED ventilated facade-can be used as a billboard, which is exten-ded so that it can become a ceiling for the open ground floor.

LOCTIONSanto Domingo Square, Madrid

PROJECT AREA4.500m ²

FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMEPublic parkingTemporary marketOutdoors exhibition spacesExpontaneous performance spaces

The Santo Domingo Square is occupied by a series of towers which have a dual func-tion. On the one hand they will be used as a motorized vertical parking. On the other hand, because of their different heights, they can be useful for pedestrians to climb throu-gh them and have access to some areas of the roofs of the buildings all arround the square. In this way the roofs of the bordering buildings can be used to carry out different public outdoors activities.

FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMESmall “tablao flamenco” with dressing rooms and toilets.

Taking Cedric Price as a reference and his London Zoo Aviary, it is about creating a fla-menco show space dedicated to Camaron de la Isla. Conditioned by tide changes, be-ing this pavilion over the water, we have a se-veral number of platforms at different heights inside an unifying textile skin thanks to which we have complete contact with the outside. This skin could be considered as a fishing net in the middle of the water.
