God, from the beginning, created heaven and earth, giving man the control of all the resources of the earth. It is therefore clear that God did not intend that man should lack in any way.

FROM THE BEGINNING

WHEN MAN’S PROBLEM BEGUN

Man lost control of the resources due to disobedience. But God, being the all merciful, told man that, even in spite of his disobedience, if man worked hard, he would have enough to take care of himself.

WHERE IS THE BALL?

So, the ball is now in your court.

You have to act.

This audience is mixed and so the lines of action that have to be suggested have to be varied. How should you act?There can be no universal answer.

What I intend to do is to categorize the audience according to age and stages in life and proceed to prescribe actions that can serve to sustain the journey towards success at each stage.

At each appropriate time, it is important to produce a comprehensive life plan covering physical well-being, family/spouse, spiritual, humanitarian, financial, career, strategic, community, educational/personal development.

LIFE CYCLE

Man goes through a life-cycle, from childhood to adolescence, adulthood, mature stage, old age and then death. Poverty, success or failure is defined by your actions, which may affect your position at each stage.

Miracles are possible but if you are

in a wrong place, you can miss them.

Childhood Baby1 – 3 Years

Action here is by parents. Take care medically, nutritionally, and physically and emotionally. Child is developing Trust in the world.

CHILDHOOD KINDERGARTEN 3 – 5 YEARS

Parents: Send your children to good schools. Show them love. Start to teach them about God.

Child is developing sense of accepting challenges.

CHILDHOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL AGE 6 – 11 YEARS

Children: Obey your parents Obey your teachers Do your assignments. Help your parents. Avoid bad company. Know that there is God.


Parents: Guide your children. Know them intimately. Teach them about God. Educate them on dangers of immorality. Encourage them.

Children at this stage desire to show mastery and excellence.

CHILDHOOD SECONDARY & ADOLESCENT 12 – 18 Actions Necessary For

Children: Obey your parents and teachers. Beware of cultism. Face your studies. Read books on school subjects plus other books on other matters including novels. Read widely.


Have a Time Table for your school subjects. Start early. Shun Exam Malpractices. Write down a 5-Year Plan when in SS1. Beware of AIDS. Shun alcohol. Join clubs and societies. Engage in sports.


Parents: Send your children to good schools. Work with teachers to guide your children. Support them with school materials. Show them love.

Children at this stage may face identity crisis. “Who am I?” becomes an important question.

ADOLESCENT TERTIARY 18 – 23 YEARS

Know your strengths and weaknesses. Try to correct your areas of weaknesses. Build on your areas of strengths. Objectively and realistically select your intended vocation or field of specialization. University, Polytechnic, Apprenticeship, etc, the choice is yours.


Avoid AIDS. Shun Exam Malpractices. Write a 5-year Rolling plan, Review every year. “Who am I?” continues to feature as an important question. Mentor others. Shun alcohol. Parents should advise but must refrain from imposing their own choices on the child..

ADULTHOOD & WORKING23 + YEARS

Actions Necessary For SuccessYoung person with full of potential. The sky

is your limit. Choose a career. You can start with anything and move on as times and changes dictate. Review your 5-year Rolling plan. Fear God. Spend wisely. Invest for the rainy day.


Invest for the future. Buy shares, a plot. You begin to think of who to marry. Avoid AIDS. Continue to develop yourself academically. Some young persons even engage in some business enterprises. “Who am I?” Mentor others

MATURE ADULT 30 + YEARS

Actions Necessary For Success Distinguish yourself in whatever you

are doing. Continue to develop yourself academically. Seek opportunities to advance in your career. Remember thy Creator. Unless you have decided not to marry, this is the time to do so.


If you see any business opportunities and it is your plan to do so, this can be the time. Invest surplus incomes. Avoid AIDS. Review your 5-year Rolling plan and convert it into a Life Plan. Set Life Goals. Don’t forget your village. You can have a small house there. “Who am I?”

FULLY MATURE 40 + YEARS


Shine your eyes. Consolidate your plans and activities concerning what you want to be. Intensify actions in the above box. Write a will, just in case.


“Who am I”? Mentor others. Constantly check your performance against your life goals. Continuing education mandatory.

YOU ARE RIPE 50 - 55

Start planning for your retirement, which may happen in between 5 to 10 years time. Where will you live? You must work out how you will be paying your daily bills. Revise your will.


Use advisers. Mentor others. “Who am I?” Continuing Education. You have to face the reality. Accept responsibility for the way you have lived your life.

YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN 55 - 65


Remember your Creator. Thank Him. If in paid employment, organize yourself and retire. Continue to invest in shares, your own business enterprise. Plan for succession in your business.


Revise your will. Continuing education. Mentor others. Use advisers. Beware of stagnation. Guard your integrity.

THANK YOUR GOD 65 – 70 YEARS
