I understand the contents of my BC Me-s Federa-on membership applica-on are confiden-al. All personal
informa-on is protected by The Freedom of Informa-on and Protec-on of Privacy Act and may not be released to any individual, body, agency or organiza-on, without my wriEen consent.
Purpose for the Disclosure of Personal Informa-on:
The BCMF will be using and sharing your informa8on, to the extent necessary, towards historical research in
rela8on to contemporary and historical Mé8s communi8es, tradi8ons, and customs.
In addi8on to the purposes set forth above, your personal informa8on may be used as follows:
• To trace your ancestry.
• To research and record personal informa8on as necessary for the exercise and preserva8on of cultural
prac8ces and tradi8on.
• For use in a public report concerning contemporary or historical communi8es and tradi8onal Mé8s
customs and prac8ces for use as necessary in Court proceedings,
• Administra8ve BCMF Registry maEers, disputes and hearings, and such other purposes and uses as may
be required and deemed useful in advancing the cause of Mé8s Ci8zens, proving and/or;
• Upholding Mé8s rights and en8tlement and/or publicizing Mé8s issues.

full memberThe BC Métis Federation (BC Métis Federation) will recognize Full Membership upon proof of possession of a genealogical verified card from one of the following provincial Métis organizations and all copies, proof of ancestry:
• Métis Nation British Columbia• Métis Nation of Alberta• Métis Nation of Saskatchewan• Manitoba Métis Federation• Métis Nation of Ontario• Labrador Métis Nation• Northwest Territory Métis Nation• Métis Settlements Grand Council
associate memberBC Métis Federation will recognize Associate Membership for:
• Spouses of BC Métis Federation members• Friends of the BC Métis Federation• Independent supporters who complete a BC Métis Federation membership application
form but have not provided genealogical evidence to substantiate their Métis identificationat the time of membership application
• Métis who do not have their genealogy complete will become associate members untila member has completed the necessary research to verify citizenship
• Associate members will not be eligible to vote at any BC Métis Federation general meetingsand are not eligible to sit on the BC Métis Federation board of directors

• Such persons may be admitted by resolution of the membership at an annualgeneral meeting

The Society acknowledges that we will be receiving, in the ordinary course of our operations, personal information from Individuals and organizations including, and without limitation: Canadian Government, Service Agencies, BC Métis Federation Members, Associate Members and potential new members. The BC Métis Federation Privacy Policy Management Plan includes the following guidelines on the collection, use and storage of your personal information as follows:C O L L E C T I O N : The BC Métis Federation collects personal information about our members in order to better manage the society.
