I stepped up and ran for president because

of what Alan Fletcher wrote in last year's June

edition of the Oasis and also said at the March

General Board meeting. It was important and

true then, and it is just as important and true

now, so I'm going to say exactly what he said.

As a matter of fact, I'm plagiarizing.

“Who will stand up and get things done this

year and in the years to come? This Club does

not run by itself! It needs people, both women

and men, from the rank and file, members to make things hap-

pen. This administration is looking to you to carry your share of

the burden of running this Club as many, many others have done

in our 67 year history”. As Debbie said last month (13 months

ago now), “we need a throng of volunteers . . . willing to give of their time freely for the good of the Club.”

I also want to thank Alan Fletcher and his entire team for the

great job they did last year. Your new team hopes to do as well.

The main reason I have not wanted to be president is be-

cause the president has to write a full page message each month.

I was told that the full page president's message is a relatively

new idea and that in the past, we didn't have one. So, I'm happy

to be your new president who doesn't have to write a full page

message each month. I apologize in advance to the 7 people

who actually read these things. As the previous editor of the

Oasis, I learned that most members look first of all at the activi-

ties they're interested in, and then at the pictures. So, from now

on, the front page is going to feature an activity for the month

or a bunch of pictures. I may throw in a dumb joke sometimes

    too.

Our goal for this year is the same as I’m sure the goal has al-

ways been. We’re going to make sure every member has as

much fun with as little hassle as possible. We will be asking for

    your input.

C.R. ENGLAND TRUCKING COMPANY Please join us Wednesday, June 24, 2015, when we will tour the very impressive

headquarters of C.R. England Trucking Company, the nation’s largest refrigerated trucking company. England

Trucking had a very humble beginning 90 plus years ago in a small farming town of Plain City, Utah west of

Ogden, when Chester R. England decided there was an easier way to make a living than farming. Chester

bought his first Model T truck in 1920 with the idea of providing farm-to-market service for farmers in Weber

County and Cache Valley. From that beginning grew one of the leading trucking companies of today, special-

izing in nationwide moving of temperature-sensitive food and other products.

FRIDAY June is a perfect time for a hike. Everyone is welcome. Hikes are easy to moderate and

generally take 3 to 4 hours to complete. Meet at 9:00am at a predetermined location and

carpool to trail head. A trail is selected for each week’s hike and notification by email is

sent mid-week. If you are new to hiking and want to get on the email distribution list,

    email Sophia.

RMSG CASUAL HIKING/WALKING This group hikes on Fridays when weather allows. We will decide which trail as the weather

indicates. Lou will send out notices a day or two before. All are welcome. If you are inter-

ested but not on the list, please contact new coordinator, Louis DeVries.
