End User License Agreement (EULA)

Mello (hence orth the Product) is licensed to you as theend user. Please read this Agreement care ully.You cannot trans er ownership o these Sounds and So twarethey contain. You cannot re-sell or copy the Product.

LICENSE AND PROTECTION

1. License Grant

UVI grants to you, subject to the ollowing terms andconditions, a non-exclusive, non-trans erable rightto use each authorized copy o the Product.

The product is the property o UVI and is licensed to you onlyor use as part o a musical per ormance, live or recorded. This

license expressly orbids resale or other distribution o thesounds and so tware included in the Product or their derivatives,

either as they exist on disc, re ormatted or use in anotherdigital sampler, or mixed, combined, iltered, resynthesized orotherwise edited, or use as sounds, multi-sounds, samples,multi-samples, wavetables, programs or patches in a sampler,microchip or any hardware or so tware sample playback device.

You cannot sell the Product content or give it away or useby others in their sampling or sample playback devices.In the event UVI terminates this agreement due to yourbreach, you agree to return the original and all othercopies o the so tware and documentation to UVI.

UVI reserves all rights not expressly granted to herein.

2. Protection of Software

You agree to take all reasonable steps to protect the product andany accompanying documentation rom unauthorized copyingor use. You agree not to modi y the product to circumvent anymethod or means adopted or implemented by UVI to protect againstor discourage the unlicensed use o copying o the Product.

3. Ownership

As between you and UVI, ownership o , and title to, theenclosed digitally recorded sounds (including any copies)are held by UVI. Copies are provided to you only to enableyou to exercise your rights under the license.

4. TermThis agreement is e ective rom the date you open this package,and will remain in ull orce until termination. This agreementwill terminate i you break any o the terms or conditions o thisagreement. Upon termination you agree to destroy and return toUVI all copies o this product and accompanying documentation.

5. Restrictions

Except as expressly authorized in this agreement, you may not rent,sell, lease, sub-license, distribute, trans er, copy, reproduce, display,modi y or time share the enclosed product or documentation.

Mello

The Origins of Sampling; a Sound that Shaped the 60s

Hark back to the heyday o classic rock and one instrument standsabove the rest, a 350lb behemoth that would orever change theway we think about making music. At the heart o this monsterwas an array o tape machines, one per note on the attachedkeyboard, each playing a uniquely recorded sound. With only 8seconds o tape per key and a cumbersome rame this machinehad its limitations but was nonetheless impressive or its time,boasting a multitimbral and truly polyphonic engine. Instantly

made amous by the Beatles hit Strawberry Fields Forever andused by countless others including The Moody Blues, RollingStones, and prog rock legends Yes, this was the must-have soundo the 60s. While its use ell out o ashion the implications itmade have become undamental to modern music production.

With Mello weve aimed to deliver a complete and authenticrecreation o this proli ic instrument. Dozens o original tapeswere multi-sampled on 3 di erent machines in order to

give you the best representation o each o the 28 availablesounds. To capture the live experience the key noise andinner mechanical sounds were stereo recorded, including tapenoise and key-o sounds, and are all mixable to taste.

To make Mello even more versatile weve added a ewtricks o our own, including an analog-modeled tapedelay, reverb, a custom unison mode to give you stereo

sound without unwanted transposition or chorusing, aswitchable multimode ilter, a 3-band EQ and more.

Mello delivers a warm and buttery tone indistinguishable romthe original and is, in every way we could make it, a per ecttribute to the quintessential studio instrument o the 60s.

Installing the UFS File

1. Copy Mello.u s to your computer2. Launch UVI Workstation or Mach Five 33. Go to [Pre erences > Sound Banks]4. Click add [...] and select the older containing the u s ile5. Restart the application

Mello will now appear in the browsers Sound Banks section

Whats a UFS File?

UFS is UVIs monolithic instrument ile ormat.All required assets or an instrument including samples, presets,scripts, FX and impulse responses are contained within a singleUFS ile. This approach allows or an extremely lexible work lowwith minimal overhead or ile management and updating.

Authorize the Way You WantIn the past, a physical dongle has been required to activate and use iLok pluginsbut this has recently changed.

The updated iLok system now supports computer-based authorization, meaning, i you dont have or want aniLok dongle, you dont need one.

Visit https://www.ilok.com/ and create your ree account!

Installing the License on an iLok Key

First, make sure you have downloaded andinstalled the latest iLok License Manager romwww.ilok.com

Once installed, launch the iLok License Managerand log in to your iLok account (if you dont haveone, please create one on the iLok website)

Then:

1. Go to the Available tab

2. Drag and drop the license onto your iLok key

3. Click OK when prompted to con irm activation

4. A dialog box will appear stating the process wassuccess ul, click OK

5. You can now see that the license has beensuccess ully trans erred to your iLok key

The process is complete, you can now quit iLok

License Manger.

Please note: If you need to deactivate yourlicense at any time, simply right-click it and selectDeactivatedoing so will return your license tothe Available tab

MIDI Learn

Most UVI Workstation parameters can be automated via. a convenientMIDI Learn. MIDI Learn allows you to bind a physical MIDI controller

to speci ic parameters within UVI Workstation.

Any FX tab parameter, Macro Knob or Slider in UVIinstruments can use the MIDI Learn eature

The MIDI controller type and the MIDI Channel assignment willbe saved with the multi or with your song in the host sequencer

Automation is assigned per-part

To use MIDI Learn:1. Right-click the parameter in UVI Workstationthat you want to automate2. A ter the MIDI Learn dialog appears, Trigger thedesired MIDI input controller (knob, ader etc.)

To remove a MIDI controller assignment:Right-click the desired parameter and press Delete

Arpeggiator

UVI Workstation comes equipped with a robust arpeggiator. To insertan arpeggiator in a part, you need to display the Single view in the

UVI Workstation, then click on the note icon. The arpeggiator canbe employed as a pattern gate, arpeggiator, or even an advancedrhythmic processor or your live MIDI per ormance or sequenced MIDItracks. Arpeggiators can be inserted in an unlimited number o parts.

Preset Stacking

Thanks to the simplicity o the UVI Workstation you can stack asmany preset as you want by simply assign multiple part on the sameMIDI channel.

Scroll Wheel

All knobs can be adjusted with the scroll wheel on your mouse.When you double-click on any knob or slider, you can manually enteror type in the desired value.

Split, Velocity & Key Switch

The Keyswitch settings allow you to load multiple presets into twoor more parts and dynamically play and mute them rom your MIDIcontroller using key switching, note range, velocity range or anycombination o the three parameters. This power ul eature gives you

a great deal o real-time control.

Unlimited FX

UVI Workstation o ers a wide variety o FX, or e ectprocessors, to cover all your audio processing needs. The FXimplementation is robust and includes the ability to insertunlimited FX slots in several stages o the signal low.
