The new Closest
Destination mobile software application,
referenced by Steve
Vandeventer during
January InService, has completed bench
testing and is now
ready for limited
deployment this week. Five field units
will be tested for
functionality and
accuracy for one week. If all tests well, full fleet deployment will begin the
week of April 2nd.
As a reminder, the system will display the closest facility
based upon the patient identified conditions of ROSC, STEMI and trauma. The closest destination information is
located at the bottom of the incident information.
Please contact Operations Manager Todd Sims at
[email protected] if you have any questions.

Members of the Latino Outreach Committee continued their work at the Our Lady of Guadalupe free clinic on Sunday, March 18th.
Paramedics Julio Lizarazo and Andrew Chamblin and EMTs Matt West and Yolanda Edmonds helped check-in dozens of patients and
assisted physicians with clients. Clinic staff members say the
group has been a tremendous help during busy clinic hours.
Also last week, EMTs Lester Oliva and Angela Breeden-
Alvarez and Paramedic Tyler North spoke to a group called
Enlace. The group is made up of key stakeholders in the
Latino community, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
The group spoke about Medic and the new Latino Outreach
Committee. The response from the presentation was
extremely positive. At least one group has already requested
a CPR class and others have expressed interest in touring
Medic.
If you are interested in learning more about or joining the
Latino Outreach Committee, contact Community
Engagement Coordinator Katie Rutland at

Calling All Community Service Leaders and Volunteers!
Results of the new Performance Pay
Tracking period have been calculated. All
areas are tracking well with the
exception of patient satisfaction.
Our current score stands at 67%, so we
are just one point shy of our goal. The
good news is that there is still plenty of
time to make improvements in order to
raise our Patient Satisfaction score.
Regardless of the type of medical
concern a patient we treat is dealing
with, they still judge the level of service
they receive and they very well may end
up on the other end of one of our
patient satisfaction surveys. Please
continue to deliver the very best in
excellent patient care and use AIDET
when interacting with patients and their families as the group performance payout is heavily tied to overall patient
satisfaction. Remember, priority one patients count on clinical care while priority three patients often need compassion.
Thank you for all that you do to help Medic succeed as an Agency. We couldn’t do it without you!

As discussed during June 2011 InService, Medical Services will begin mandatory FISDAP testing all employees who
currently function at the EMT-B level on March 1, 2012. The purpose of this testing is to assist in the creation of more
focused educational and training opportunities by establishing a didactic baseline for all patient care providers. All scores
will be held in the strictest of confidence and will only be available to the employee through a face-to-face request with a
members of Medical Services.
Exams will be administered at 0900 hrs, 1300 hrs and 1800 hrs on the dates listed. Employees will have three hours to
