FERRITE EXAMINATION BY VOLUME FRACTION SYSTEMATIC MANUAL POINT COUNT
TEST SPECIFICATION: The ferrite examination was carried out in accordance with ASTM E562 - 11 Standard Test Method for Determining Volume Fraction by Systematic Manual Point Count. The location of testing included the weld cap and fill, weld root and fill and adjacent heat affected zones. The average percent for each area was recorded. For the heat affected zones a majority of the evaluation was at the fusion line where the ferrite percent in considerably higher. No of Counts: 15 minimum – 30 maximum per location Grid Intersection Points: 30 Magnification: 750X – 1250X Reference No.: X1512

FERRIC CHLORIDE CORROSION TEST – TEST METHOD A - ASTM G48
TEST SPECIFICATION:
A cross section of the welded pipe, 25mm wide x 50mm in length (weld centreline) x full thickness was prepared with all cut sides polished to a P600 finish in accordance with ASTM G48 Method A “Ferric Chloride Pitting Test”. As requested both the external and internal weld caps were left as welded with minimal preparation. It was stated that no passivation or pickling was applied to the coupon after welding. The specified test duration was for 24 hours at a testing temperature of 22°C. After completion of testing the same test piece was further tested at 40°C for 24 hours, the machined sides were repolished and both the external and internal weld caps were left as per previous test conditions
Sample Size at 22°C: 50.01mm long x 24.95mm wide x 8.75mm W.T (Please note the
thickness is based on the parent material thickness and does not include the weld reinforcement).
Sample Size at 40°C: 50.01mm long x 24.86mm wide x 8.75mm W.T (Please note the thickness is based on the parent material thickness and does not include the weld reinforcement).
