A Message from Morah Marsha

As the song goes "I'm so glad we had this time together”...Thank you for entrusting your children to us at MDS Summer Camp this summer. It was a joy to see their happy faces day after day, and to hear the excitement in their voices as they went from activity to activity.

On behalf of myself and my staff, I would like to wish you and your families a Shana Tova and a happy and healthy New Year. I look forward to greeting you and your children at MDS Summer Camp 2015! Shabbat Shalom. Morah Marsha

There are many exciting activities happening at camp every week . Our

counselors take pictures of the children having fun and keeping busy

throughout the day. While we can’t include all pictures in the Newsletter,

the pictures are uploaded every week to Dropbox, a private photo-

sharing website. (These pictures cannot be accessed without a direct

link.) Links to the photos are below - click the link to your child’s bunk to

see their pictures. More pictures will be added on an ongoing basis but

the link will stay the same, so you can save it for future viewing. We hope

you enjoy!

Dear Families, We can't believe 7 weeks have gone by so fast! With Teacher Michelle in Kinderdance, we learned how to move our bodies to the beat. We jumped, tiptoed, and crawled to all different kinds of music. In baking, Morah Shari helped us to make so many delicious treats like double chocolate chip cookies, s'more pies, and edible aquariums. Mixing and pouring in the ingredients one at a time helped us learn how to take turns. Morah Debbie gave us so many opportunities to play with stickers, Dot Dot paints, tissue paper, and gluey shapes. It was so wonderful to explore our creative side all summer. In science with Morah Simona we learned how to make ooblek, grass heads, bubbles, and much more. This gave us a chance to use all our senses and learn something new! Every Wednesday it was such a special treat to play Soccer with Coach Rohan and Coach Chris. We really enjoyed waking up the nets, scoring goals, walking backwards and making cone shoes. An added benefit was learning two cool new Super Soccer Songs! Every Friday was such a pleasure in Music with Yoni. Singing Shabbat songs about di-nosaurs and chicken soup all the while dancing our socks off helped us get ready for Shabbat. Playing in the gym and in the yard was always the highlight of our days. The balls, the slides, and the hula hoops all added to the fun. Playing in the sprinklers was also a great way to cool off during the hot days! This summer has really been a blast. We hope to see you all back next year at MDS Camp 2015! Love, Morah Stephanie, Morah Talya, Celia, Jenny, Hannah, and Lilly

Our last week of camp went out with a bang!

In science after examining different kinds of seeds, we made grass

heads to watch our plants grow into the new year. Later in the week we

made our own ice cream by shaking salt and ice around a bag of

vanilla, sugar and milk. It was delicious!

In baking we made yummy chocolate cookies and worked together to make

edible pencils! In super soccer stars we hung out at the aquarium feeding the fish and

the whales (the nets). To send us all smiling into the school year we capped off the

summer with a magic show! After the show everyone got a cool balloon animal.

We had an amazing summer and we hope to see everyone during the year!!

Tziporim Wow! Seven week are over and done,

Our last and final week was so much fun.

In baking we made candy pencils to get ready for school,

We used pretzels, fruit roll up, marshmallows, chocolate kisses, and gum,

they looked super cool.

We planted in science and made a special ice cream treat.

We shook the bag as hard as we could to freeze the milk, it was a really big

feat.

In gym we practiced scoring in the end zone topped off with a touchdown

celebration dance. It was so much fun to watch and everyone got a chance.

In art we decorated butterflies with sequins, jewels, and lots of shiny

things. They were the biggest butterflies ever and we decorated both

wings.

To end off the week we had an amazing magic show.

It was so much fun, just so you know.

A big thanks to our specialty Morot, you provided us with so much fun.

Your creativity is unmatched, we are so sad that camp’s done.

We loved singing and dancing with Yoni about Shabbat and dinosaurs.

About the wheels on the bus and the ABC's, it was never a bore.

Thanks to Morah Simona from science and Morah Shari from baking.

Teacher Michelle from kinder dance and Morah Debbie from arts and

craft making.

A thank you goes out to coach Leora from gym.

You taught us to be a good sport whether you loose or you win.

Camp is over!!! :) Our last week at MDS day camp was a great closing to a fun filled summer. Kinder dance was so exciting as the Malkot began doing cart wheels with teacher Michelle's help. The Malkot got to play with the parachute, spinning it round and round singing wrap up the candy. We really loved that! Chalk on the roof was lots of fun, using all our art skills accumulated all summer long. In baking we made delicious chocolate cookies with chocolate chips, there's no such thing as too much chocolate! The Malkot got to make pencils out of a pretzel, marshmallow and gum for an eraser, a Hershey kiss for the pencil point and a fruit roll up wrapped around the pretzel. This made for a yummy snack! In science Morah Simona taught us all about plants and we designed our own pots and planted some grass. We will see how much our grass grows. We also made our very own ice cream as Simona's present to the Malkot. Swim Jim was great fun as our campers continue to grow as swimmers, some Malkot floating inde-pendently on bar bells, a huge improvement from the beginning of the summer. We said thank you and good bye to our amazing swim instructors for a fun learning experience. On Thursday we had an awesome magic show! The magician turned an empty coloring book into a colored book, and a empty box into a bunny!! Then we all got to pet the adorable bunny. The campers all got balloons in different shapes and animals. We had a great summer with you all! Thank you so much for coming with bright smiles each day. We hope to see you next summer! Shabbat shalom! Morah Sarah and Morah Mollie

Dear Giborim Parents,

I can't believe how quickly the last 7 weeks have gone by. It seems like just yesterday we were coming in for our first day of camp. It has been an amazing summer filled with so many fun trips and activities. This last week of camp was no exception.

On Monday, coach Leora brought out her giant parachute. It was the biggest parachute I have ever seen! We made a tent out of the parachute and everyone had a turn to run underneath it. Each child had a chance to sit in the middle of the parachute while the rest of the group spun them around. We also "made popcorn" by shaking balls all over the parachute and watching them fly up in the air.

In baking this week we made delicious chocolate chocolate chip cookies with Morah Shari. The dough was so sticky, but the cookies came out fudgy and delicious. We also made edible pencils. We used a pretzel rod as the pencil and a Hershey Kiss as the point; we used a Fruit Roll Up to hold it all together. To create the eraser, we added a marshmallow and bubble gum to the other end of the pretzel.

In science, Morah Simona brought in all different types of seeds. We learned what kind of tree each of these seeds came from and then had a turn to plant our own seeds. Each child got to decorate a cup and plant grass seeds. Don't forget, your plants need plenty of water and sunlight to grow!

Our last day of camp was filled with exciting activities. We played with our awesome new Frisbees that we decorated in art. We played soccer on the roof and got soaked in the sprinklers. We also saw an amazing magic show. The magician, Armando, made a bunny appear out of thin air and turned an empty coloring book into a book filled with colorful pictures. Some of our Giborim had a chance to be Armando’s assistants and do magic as well. At the end of the magic show, everyone got their own balloon animal. It was a great way to fin-ish camp!

Thank you to everyone for helping make the Giborim's summer a fabulous one. Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Shabbat shalom, Morah Rena and Matin
