Schon sein Großvater war ein Visionär und hat bei der Entstehung des Zeppelins mitgewirkt.Auch sein Vater konstruiert Flugzeuge und so hatte wohl niemand Einwände gegen die Idee, Gestalter zu werden.
Möbel zu entwerfen lag für Rainer Bachschmid sehr nahe, nicht zuletzt dank seiner fundierten Ausbildung als Schreiner.Bis heute reizt ihn jedoch nicht alleine nur die Gestaltung, auch die Konstruktion und die Technik der Produkte prägen seine
Formensprache. So hat sich Rainer Bachschmid schon im Studium als Industriedesigner dazu entschlossen,einen Mähdrescher zu entwerfen.
„Es ist ein perfektes Objekt, denn es zeigt die Verbindung zwischen Funktionalität, Anwendungsfreundlichkeit und Emotion.“Heute zeichnet diese Vielseitigkeit alle seine Entwürfe aus.
Genau deshalb sind seine realisierten Produkte aus dem Möbelhandel kaum wegdenkbar.Als Gründer und Inhaber von rabadesign konnte Rainer Bachschmid bereits Kontakt zu den Namhaften und Bekannten
der nationalen und internationalen Möbelindustrie pflegen.Und die Produzenten wissen das zu schätzen, nicht zuletzt profitieren sie vom globalen Know How
und der Innovationskraft aus den anderen Bereichen.Rainer Bachschmid findet es dabei sehr positiv, dass unsere heutige Generation ein exzellentes Gespür für gut gestaltete Produkte
hat und zunehmend fokussiert ist auf Wertigkeit und Qualität.So reicht es heute nicht mehr, nur „etwas“ zu produzieren.
Es geht darum, in einer zunehmend komplexer und fiktiver werdenden Welt,Werte zu schaffen und den Glauben an ein Produkt neu zu definieren.
rabadesign sieht sich nicht als klassisches Designbüro. Es reagiert auf den Wandel dieser Zeit.Was heute zählt, sind Markenwelten mit Erlebbarkeit von Produkten.
Im Sinne dieser Wandlung verschafft rabadesign dem Design eine Art szenische Welt mit Familiengedanken.Der Käufer bleibt nicht mehr nur Kunde, er wird zum integrierten Bestandteil.
Es bleibt Rainer Bachschmid dabei nach wie vor wichtig, den Lebensraum der Menschen im Gesamten zu sehen.Deshalb beschäftigt sich Rainer Bachschmid sehr intensiv mit den Gewohnheiten und Bedürfnissen aller Kulturen dieser Welt.
„Es fasziniert mich immer wieder, wenn ich bei anderen Menschen zu Gast sein darfund ich einen intimen Einblick in den Lebensraum dieser Person bekomme.“
His grandfather was a visionary and had participated in the creation of the Zeppelin,his father had designed aeroplanes, and so no-one had anything to say against his desire to be a designer.
To design furniture was an obvious choice for Rainer Bachschmid, not least owing to his founational training as a cabinet maker.To this day, it is not only his interest in the design, but also in the construction and technology of the product that influences his style.
This could already be seen in his studies as an industrial designer when he decided to design a combine harvester, stating that,"It is the perfect object, because it shows the connection between function, ergonomics and emotion.".
Today, this versatility distinguishes all his designs. Therefore, it is hard to picture the furniture market without his products.As the founder and owner of rabadesign, Rainer Bachschmid has been able to maintain contacts
with the prominent players in the national and international furniture industry.In addition to this, producers know to treasure, not to mention gain from, the global "know-how"
and innovative strength evident in his ranges. Rainer Bachschmid finds it very positive that our current generation has a strongappreciation for well designed products and it's focus on value and quality. It is no longer enough to simply produce "something".
Therefore, in a world that is increasingly complex and fictitious, it is vital to create values and to re-define the belief in a product.rabadesign does not resemble the classic design firm. It reacts to the change in times.
What matters today, are brands with experiential products. In consideration of this change, he creates designs for a scenic worldwith family in mind. The buyer is not simply a customer, but an integral part of the brand. It remains important to Rainer Bachschmid,
to see the habitat of people in it's entirety. Therefore, he interests himself in the habits and needs of every culture in this world."When I am a guest, I am always fascinates to get an intimate picture of people's lives through their living room."

Geboren wurde Rainer Bachschmid 1966 in Süddeutschland am Bodensee. Neben einer fundamentalen Ausbildung alsSchreiner studierte er an der Universität in Wuppertal Industrie Design.Nach seinem Abschluss im Jahre 1994 arbeitete er unter anderem in namhaften Designbüroswie Babel Design und Moll Design in Deutschland.Danach zog es Rainer Bachschmid in die Schweiz, wo er während 10 Jahren als Leiter für Designund Entwicklung beim Möbelproduzenten Reinhard AG Sachseln tätig war.2004 gründete er das Designstudio rabadesign im Kanton Obwalden.rabadesign arbeitet heute erfolgreich mit nationalen und internationalen Auftraggebern wie Team by Wellis,Julia Grup, Topstar, Frezza, Calligaris, Leyform, Modular, Lumess AG, Tisch&Stuhl Willisau AG, Lumi Legend (China),Varaschin, Altek, Presotto, Betschart, Duco System, VDS van der Sluis, DK3, Viasit,Ronald Schmitt, Topdeq, Mazuvo und weiteren.Seit 2005 ist er Dozent im Ausbildungszentrum für Schreiner im Bürgenstock Nidwalden (VSSM).
Rainer Bachschmid was born by the Lake Constance, between Germany and Switzerland.After training as a cabinet maker he studied Industrial Design at the University Wuppertal.After graduation in 1994 he collaborated with designers such as Babel Design and Moll Design.Following that, Rainer Bachschmid moved to Switzerland.WIthin in 10 years of that he worked as the head of development and design for the furniture producerReinhard AG Sachseln. Durch die Atmungsaktivität der Sunbrella Stoffe wird die Bildung vonKondenswasser vermieden und beugt deshalb dem Schimmelbefall vor.Damit die Drainage (Wasserdurchfluss) nicht beeinträchtigt wird,setzen wir auf der Unterseite der Sitzkissen ein Mesh (Netz) ein.
Due to the breathability of the Sunbrella fibres, the build up of condensationis prevented and therefore of mould also.To ensure that the drainage is not impaired, we sew a mesh onto theunderside of our seating cushion.

Sunbrella woven fabric has been specially designed to withstand extreme weatherconditions. The sunbrella fabric is exclusively produced with solution dyed acrylicfibres. With this special production process, the colour pigments are completelyenclosed by the fibre. This protects the colour from harmful UV-rays.Sunbrella is hardwearing, easy to keep, provides maximum comfort and stands forthe highest quality and a wide spectrum of usage, eg. Lounge furniture, Marquees,boat cushions, Sunumbrellas etc.
