ExpertExpertAsk theHow can I create a secure password? Hackers want access to everything. e best way to stop them is a strong password with the following characteristics:

• At least eight characters long.• Does not contain your username, real

name, or company name.• Does not contain a complete word.• Very di erent from previous

passwords.• Contains uppercase letters, lowercase

letters, numbers and symbols.Other tips for a secure password that is easy to remember include:

• Create an acronym that has meaning to you. Example - My daughter’s birthday is 20 May could become Mdbi/20May.

• Substitute numbers, symbols, and misspellings for letters or words in an easy-to-remember phrase. Example - My daughter’s birthday is May 20 could become MiD’s Brthd8tiz0520.

• Relate your password to a favorite hobby or sport. Example - I love to play softball could become ILuv2PlayS@ftB@11.

It’s best not to write down your password in order to remember it, but if you must, don’t label it as your password, and keep it in a safe place.
