OPENING PRAYER
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison) Great God of all creation, who are we that you are mindful of us? You who set the stars in motion, who launched waves crashing against the shore, who knows the heights and depths of the world; why do you bother with us? You count the hairs on our heads, and call us each by name. You tend to us and care for us and we do not understand why. We cannot grasp your love for us, O God, for it is unlike us to be that loving and forgiving. Turn us around, O God. Help us to see as you see, and to reach out as you reach out. Remind us once again of the sacredness of our ordinary day to day lives. In your mercy, O God, forgive who we are and bless who we will be to the glory of your name. Amen. (Silence for personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
RESPONSIVE SONG NO. 409 “God of Our Life” (verse 1) God of our life, through all the circling years, we trust in you; in all the past, through all our hopes and fears, your hand we view. With each new day, when morning lifts the veil, we own your mercies, Lord, which never fail.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (in unison) THE APOSTLES’ CREED (Traditional)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) Update – May 20, 2018 Our senior minister candidates are coming to life! We are conducting first round video interviews with candidates who have been deemed most compatible with our position. There are a series of questions asked – two of which are provided in advance. We also allot time for questions of us at the end of the interview. The interview lasts approximately one hour and is recorded so it can be reviewed later if needed. How exciting as we get to know the candidates better and start to feel the chemistry! Equally exciting are the prayers we receive from each of you. Each member of the PNC has been blessed with the assignment of dedicated prayer partners. Our prayer partners pray for us individually and for the entire PNC. When, at times, we feel burdened with the gravity of this discernment process, these prayers are truly uplifting. Thank you! In addition to our interviews, we continue to correspond regularly with our candidates to “keep them up to speed,” and continue our process of learning more about each applicant – often by listening to more sermons. After completion of these first round interviews, we will conduct follow-up interviews with selected candidates. From the May 6th FPCP Worship Service – Fruit of the Spirit: Patience Galatians 5:22-25 22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. Thank you for your patience, because none of us know when the Lord will be revealing to us our next Senior Minister! In Christ, Kathy Bernard Kurt Boeve James Davidson Sandy Dodge Kiki Farrow Paula Ford Steve Marulis Dana Stonerook Tom Weaver

Mission @FPCP
Fitness in Christ Updates
The National/International Mission Committee (NIMC) is continuing its support of a new mission at FPCP called Fitness in Christ. This ministry will host various events and fitness/fellowship opportunities.
Bicycling every Thursday evening throughout the summer Starting Thursday, May 31st, and throughout the summer, we will be hosting a weekly casual bike ride from our church parking lot at 6 pm. The goal will be to enjoy the presence of God and each other as we exercise our hearts, bodies and minds while riding a bike. There are a few things you’ll need to participate: A functional and safe bicycle (nothing fancy) No cycling experience, but able to ride A bicycle helmet – no other “professional” bike clothing required If under 18 years of age, need a parent/guardian to ride with you or have signed permission Weather permitting, we will enjoy riding around the Downtown Plymouth area and may possibly venture to Hines Drive.
“Super Sprint” or “Sprint” Triathlon Relay Team fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, August 4th
We have 3-4 triathlon relay teams committed to participate in the Ann Arbor Triathlon scheduled for August 4th at Half Moon Lake in Gregory, MI. We would love to have more participants! Participation deadline is June 15th. The “Super Sprint” teams will have a 400 yard swim, 14 mile bike ride, and a 2 mile run and the “Sprint” teams will have an 800 yard swim, 14 mile bike ride, and 5 mile run. The beauty of the relay means you’ll commit to doing either the swim, bike or run portions—or 2 portions or all three! We will be fundraising for a FPCP mission partner – more details to come.
If you are interested or would like additional details about the weekly ride or Triathlon Relay, please reach out to Patrick Murphy at (734) 968-7534 or [email protected].
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you
have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your
bodies.”

Presbyterian Women FPCP Presbyterians for Earth Care
Planting Season is Here!!!! Do Your Part to Recycle!!!
Did you know that the plastic pots and trays that your flowers, plants and vegetables come in are not recyclable in your weekly trash pick-up? Don’t worry, you can still do your part. Here are a couple of options:
We will collect these items at church on Sunday, June 3th
and Sunday, June 10th
. Just bring your items and leave them outside the church by the bench at the side of the building. Members of the FPCP Presbyterians for Earth Care will collect them and take them to a recycle site.
You can take these items yourself to any Lowe’s store to be recycled.
The Friends of the Rouge will be presenting “Rain Smart: Living Lawns and (Rain) Gardens” at the Plymouth District Library on June 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. The program will help participants learn
how to use fewer chemicals on their lawns and attract more birds and butterflies while also helping to solve problems like flooded streets and dirty creeks. RSVP after May 15 at therouge.org/livinglawns
FPCP Partners in Earth Care Thanks, Sharon, for highlighting how simple changes can have a big impact on our carbon footprint made at FPCP: Good Sunshiny Day Caregivers! If you weren't in church on Earth Day Sunday, you missed Debra MacGregor speaking so eloquently on behalf of the Earth Care Team. Just to illustrate how small actions add up, here's the impact the Earth Care Team has had on our group. In March of 2016, when we first started having soup, they arranged for the Thrift Shop to donate bowls and spoons to us. Rather than the disposables I had planned to use, instead we wash a few dishes each month. (Thanks Deacons!). If you calculate average attendance at our meetings at 10, over the course of the months we've been enjoying the soup, those bowls and spoons have saved approximately 260 bowls and spoons from the landfill. The Earth thanks you and so do we, Earth Care Team! Sharon Holcomb
Jewelry Mosaic The jewelry mosaic of “Ruth and Naomi” is complete and it is spectacular! We used so much of the jewelry that was donated to us but still have much left over. If there is a piece which was not used which you wish to reclaim, please contact Ailsa Blunk or Sue Kage by the end of May. Any leftovers remaining will then be donated. Thanks for your support of this historical project at FPCP.
