SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

FAITH FORMATION NEWS

Our Faith Formation Program is now accepting registrations for September. All families in our program should have received a packet with all necessary forms and information for the coming year. If you did not receive forms to register your child, please contact the office as soon as possible. In order to prepare for our fall classes, we need to have accurate numbers. We ask all families to register by June 30th at the latest, otherwise a late fee will be charged. We thank you for your cooperation. If you are a new family to our program, you can stop by our call the Faith Formation office for information about our program. “For I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received...”

Free website: wonderful opportunity for Faith Formation at your fingertips for families and adults. Catholic movies, audio, bible study, sacramental programs and e-books are available.

ADULT SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION At present we have one adult coming into the faith- who will be taking classes with our team this year. It is always wonderful to share the knowledge and classes in a group setting- maybe now is the time for someone you may know! If you are aware of a person who is looking to convert to our Catholic Faith (possibly a spouse or friend who has considered this recently) and feels they might want to learn more, encourage them to call for information and a meeting to find out how the process works. This process of conversion is one that involves inquiry and commitment to formation in the faith including becoming a part of the parish community. In addition we would like to bring to your attention the Archdiocesan Adult Confirmation Program. This is designed for PRACTICING adult Catholics over 18 years of age who for one reason or another had never received the sacrament of Confirmation but have been Baptized, received First Holy Communion and have been educated in the past through a religious education program. The program involves 8 sessions at a central diocesan location later in the year. However a letter from the pastor granting permission to participate in the program, and copies of Baptismal and First Communion certificates are required. Now is the time to begin to think about this important step and be ready to register at the appropriate time. Please call Nancy Dunn at 635-1700 x 12 for more information about either of these programs or touch base with Fr Jay or Deacon John after Mass one Sunday.

NEWBURGH MINISTRY Sister Mary thanks all who have donated clothing etc to the Newburgh Shelter. Her contact, Sister Norma, will be accepting only summer wear including sneakers, flip flops, bathing suits at the present time. The only winter items would be coats and blankets to prepare for the first cold snap. Besides clothing, small kitchenware, towels etc are also welcome. Please contact our Sister Mary to arrange a time when she is able to accept these donations. Please DO NOT leave anything in the parish hall vestibule. St Stanislaus does not have room for this type of collection at this time.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE... Next week at all the Masses, Fr. Backes will be explaining to the entire parish the Renew & Rebuild Campaign that has begun in our parish. We will share with you the important projects we are hoping to have the funds to cover and also the very fine results we have had in the initial phase of the program. In comings weeks you will hear even more details and how you can help. This project requires an “across-the-board” participation, not just some but of all our parishioners as we hope to prepare for the future of our parish. Next weekend is the “kick-off” and we ask you to see the needs we have and why we need your help. Please pray that this campaign will continue to bring about a very positive – and generous – response. Please note that the goal of this campaign will include this year’s Cardinal’s Appeal. For this reason, we will not take up the Cardinal’s Appeal collection this year. It will resume next year.

HOME RUN FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS There will be a Home Run for Catholic Schools Hudson Valley Renegades game in June. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit our Regional Catholic Schools. More information will be in next week’s bulletin.
