On March 27, the House passed bipartisan legislation which included direct stimulus payments to Washingtonians to help make ends meet during the COVID-19 pandemic. The one-time payment is $1,200 for each adult whose income does not exceed $75,000 ($112,500 for head of household, $150,000 for married joint filers). All Social Security and SSI beneficiaries will receive the payment, unless claimed as a dependent or ineligible based on income limits. The payment is not subject to federal income tax and will not affect eligibility or assistance amount for any federally funded public assistance program. Please be especially vigilant of scams. The IRS will not call or email to ask for your personal information. Please do not hesitate to call my district office at 425-252-3188 if I can be of any assistance to you.
Rep. Rick Larsen
Member of Congress
Washington’s Second District

The Census Trust & Safety Team Protecting the Count in 2020 The use of digital platforms changed how people get their news and updates, making it easier to spread scams and false information. The U.S. Census Bureau is dedicated to protecting you from misinformation and disinformation about the 2020 Census. Help us protect the count by reporting inaccurate, suspicious, or fraudulent information you read, hear, or spot online, including: 1. A rumor in a message board or group claiming the information you provide will be publicly disclosed. 2. A post shared on social media discouraging participation in the 2020 Census. 3. A suspicious email requesting your social security number or bank account information for the2020Census. 4. An advertisement on social media sharing fake 2020 Census websites and inaccurate information. What Can You Do? 1. Report suspicious information and tips to: [email protected]. 2. Flag suspicious information on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms. 3.Call the Census Bureau Customer Service Hotline at 1-800-923-8282 to report suspicious activity. 4. Reach out to us on our verified social media accounts (@uscensusbureau). Why it Matters The census is one of the most important events in the United States. Every 10years, the census helps determine the number of seats your state gets in Congress and how billions of dollars in federal funding are distributed to states and communities each year. Help the Census Bureau protect the accuracy of the count by reporting inaccurate, suspicious, or fraudulent information.

Celeste Virago, SHIBA Volunteer Coordinator & Outreach, wants everyone to know that SHIBA is still operating Monday-Friday. All of their advisers are safely working from home, calling people and even conducting phone appointments. They have even branched out and are able to conduct remote appointments using the Zoom platform, which is super easy to use and free for clients. People are still turning 65, still having problems with their Medicare, and Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment is still going on until 3/31. We also can help submit Medicare Savings Program (MSP) and Extra Help applications. SHIBA is also preparing to be able to conduct Welcome To Medicare presentations using the Zoom platform as well.
