How did that get there? Colleen Thompson and the gang got a good chuckle

yesterday evening as somehow a little calf pooey

ended up on her shoulder even before branding was

ofcially underway. Hey, it’s a messy job but someone

has to do it. Getting a good laugh was Harold Lindel

and Bill Uphaus, and while you can’t see his face

Leonard Swenson was smiling as well. This was the

second branding performed by the Swenson crew.

In 2015, there were 24 heatstroke deaths o childrenlef unattended in vehicles. Already this year, sixchildren have died afer being lef in vehicles.

Studies show the temperature inside a vehicle canrapidly rise to lethal levels, even on a relatively mild

spring day with an outside temperature o less than 70degrees Fahrenheit.  Heatstroke is the leading cause o all non-crash-related vehicle atalities involving children under 15years old. During the period rom 1998 to the present,667 children died rom excessive heat as a result obeing lef enclosed in parked vehicles. Tat’s an average37 children per year. In most o these cases, about 54percent, these children were orgotten in vehicles as aresult o parents or caregivers being distracted.  o help prevent more tragedies such as these

rom occurring, the National Weather Service and theNational Highway raffic Saety Administration offerthe ollowing saety precautions to help avoid tragicdeaths o babies and young children.• Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle, not even

    or a minute.

    • I you see a child unattended in a vehicle, call 911.

    • Make removing your child rom the vehicle your firstpriority once you have parked.

    • Routinely look in the back and ront o your vehiclebeore locking and leaving your vehicle.

    • As a visual reminder, keep a stuffed animal in the carseat. When the child is placed in the car seat, movethe stuffed animal to the ront so the driver sees it.

    • Place your purse or briecase in the back seat as areminder that you have your child in the car.

    • Ask your childcare provider to call you i your childdoes not show up or childcare.

Listening to Pandora  (a national internet musicstation), an advertisement came on rom riple A. Andthey picked on Montana! Well, not so much as pickingon us, but just stated about a law that is apparently stillin the books:  “In Montana, it is illegal to have a sheep in the cab
