“We are a Catholic faith community devoted to becoming a dynamic center of worship. We
challenge ourselves to lead lives patterned after Jesus. With gratitude we share our faith, tal-
ents, gifts and resources so that more people experience God’s love.”

You must be a registered parishioner and attend one baptism class. This class is held the second Thursday of every month. Please fill out the form found in the kiosk of the church and return the form to the business office to sign up for the class. The form MUST be completed and
turned in the Tuesday before the Baptism class. If not turned in by this deadline, you will attend the following class. This is not a walk-in class. Marriage
According to the Archdiocesan guidelines and to ensure adequate preparation for this very important Sacrament, you must make arrangements at least six (6) months ahead of the Marriage date. Special instructions are required for any Catholic party under 19 years of age. No date can be set for this marriage. A Civil Marriage License should be obtained two weeks in advance of marriage. To set a wedding date
here at St. Gerald Catholic Church, you must be
a registered parishioner.
Religious Formation: K-8
Children of the parish are supplied with Religious Formation either in our 5-day school or in our Religious Formation Program. Regular and sus-tained Religious Formation is a life-long process. Parental support at home for their children’s reli-gious formation includes attendance at the Sun-day Eucharist, prayer at home, and support of the catechetical program of their choice. Parishioners who homeschool are encouraged to visit with the Religious Formation Director about their chil-dren’s preparations for the sacraments.
Campaign: If you decided to make monthly payments
to the campaign, the regular mailing of envelopes you
get from the parish will include payment envelopes for
the campaign that you can then just put in the Sunday
collection. These will show up in your mailing in about a month. If you decided
to make any other form of payment (quarterly, semi-annually, annually etc.) you
will get a reminder from the parish. For everyone, at the end of the calendar
year, when we send out your giving history the donations to the campaign will be
noted.
Seminarian for the Summer: Tobias Letak will be spending the summer with
us learning the ropes of priestly ministry. Tobias is finishing up his second year
at North American College in Rome which means if all goes well for him he will
be ordained in two years. Tobias’ home parish is St. Stephen the Martyr. He will
be here from July until some time in September.
Ite Missa Est: This was the dismissal used for centuries to dismiss the people
after mass was over. Go, the mass is ended. Go! What we receive at mass we
gratefully put into practice in our daily lives. Mass lasts more than an hour…it
lasts all week. The same can be said of our School and Faith Formation opportu-
nities, even though they are wrapping up for the year, now they prove their
worth. Take what you have learned and gratefully practice it all summer. School
dismisses after a rousing all school mass on Wednesday, May 21 at 10:00 AM.
Faith formation finished up on May 14 with a wonderful family mass and May
crowning. Summer activities for our youth are planned and I hope after all the
confirmation and graduation parties are over the families will get their youth in-
volved in the Youth Ministry Activities organized by Amanda Forman and the
great Totus Tuus summer religion program under the direction of Mary Harper.
I AM JUST SO THAKFUL, AD I CA’T SAY IT EOUGH. The cam-
paign workers have done such a fantastic job making calls and asking people for
their support. It is a real show of solidarity when so many are committed to this
project and are willing to put in the emotional equity and time equity to insure we
are successful with this campaign and we will be able to do the building improve-
ments we really need to do. If you have not made a pledge you can do so by go-
ing to our online giving site. The below web address allows you to make a credit
card donation to: 1) Regular Sunday Giving; 2) Walk of Pride (donations to this
enable the Home and School Association to take care of so many school needs:
transportation, field trips, teacher appreciation, and many, many other things not
covered by the budget); 3) Forging a Future of Faith Campaign. You can
even set up a recurring amount to be charged to your credit card.

Corpus Christi Procession Organizational Meeting: All those who want to be
on the organizing end of the Corpus Christi Procession…come to this meeting.
Sunday, May 18 after the 9:00 am mass. We’ll meet in the Office behind the
Hope Office. I need all those who helped last year to join again and I welcome
others to come and help. It’s a great Faith Event in our parish. This year we will
begin and end at Lakeview Chapel and our route will be shorter than last year.
Ollie the Trollie is going to join us so those of you who find walking the route
difficult…come and ride. PA system will be improved this year. I’m going to
begin recruiting servers—Last year we had 30 servers involved—that was so
neat. Torch bearers, canopy bearers, 4th Degree Honor Guard and any parish or-
ganization that wants to be represented…how about making a banner to carry

you, let’s get one made. School, how about carrying your banner in the proces-
sion. The Girl Scouts last year distributed flyers along the route a couple days
ahead of time to let people know what’s happening. Lots to do between now and
June 21. 0ur Corpus Christi Procession begins at 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 21.
We will have an Ice Cream social afterwards in the gym.
Leadership Meeting: There really is a lot of stewardship going on in our parish.
Many people share so much of their time and talent. We heard reports from
many of our parish organizations and ministries at our last meeting of the sea-
son…it was gratifying to hear these reports and everyone was built up in the faith
when these stories were shared.
Here is the poem I shared in my homily last week: Replace TV with iPhone,
iPad, Wi-Fi Connection, Wireless internet access….well you get the idea. Hear-
ing the voice of the Good Shepherd when he calls our name is not so easy when
one is filled with the noise that our media creates.
The TV is my shepherd I shall not want,
It makes me to lie down on the sofa.
It leads me away from the Faith,
It destroys my soul.
It leads me to the path of sex and violence for the advertiser’s sake.
Even though I walk in the shadow of Christian responsibilities,
There will be no interruption, for the TV is with me.
Its cable and remote control, they comfort me
It prepares a commercial for me in the midst of my worldliness
And anoints my head with secular humanism and consumerism.
My covetousness runs over;
Surely ignorance and laziness shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of wretchedness watching TV forever.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society Update The Saint Gerald Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society has been very busy this year assisting people within our parish boundaries. So far this year we have responded to 163 calls for help with rent, utilities, food, medical bills, and other types of issues that many people face in this troubled economy. Our members visit these callers in their homes, assess their needs, and assist where we can, often helping them access help from other local agencies. Thanks to the generous support of you parishioners, assistance has totaled $15,971.90 during this time. We have also given referrals assisting 198 people to the Tri-city Food pantry, often delivering food to the handicapped or to those with no transportation.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society, contact our local con-
ference president Tom Goecke at 402-592-3030.
Thank You from the Knights Thank you to everyone that purchased a rose for Moth-er's Day in support of Essential Pregnancy Services. Your generosity raised $1,363 to
assist EPS.
Columbian Squire Car Wash The Squires would like to apol-ogize to anyone who came to the car wash on May 3rd where we were forced to cancel at the
