The Big Day A wedding is a deeply intimate day, a time between two people that vow to spend the rest of their days together sharing and uplifting each other and which better place to start this journey, than in paradise.
Leave it to us Our team of dedicated staff both in South Africa and at our hotels are passionate about what they do, and they will take care of every detail, from the trip to the island, until you say your final goodbyes. Everything is perfectly orchestrated and taken care of.
The perks of choosing a wedding package at our hotels are many-fold: When on the island you will have a dedicated wedding planner who will sit and go through every detail with you from the location of the ceremony to the after party.
Prefer a Personal Touch? Have a specific colour scheme, theme in mind? No problem at all. We will help you arrange every aspect, including flowers, bouquets, buttonholes, music, photography, videos, decor and so much more.
We are also able to assist with hair and make up for you and your bridal party.

The legal and logistical aspects of your Mauritius wedding You want your perfect to day to be everything you imagined so if you also want to have a legal wedding, ensure that all your little ducks are in a row and you have everything you need to make the paperwork a breeze.
Renewing your vows • You should arrive on the island two working days before the date of the ceremony • WLH hotels do not host renewal ceremonies on weekends, so your ceremony will need be held during the week. • The only documentation required is your marriage certificate.
Arranging your ceremony An officer of the court marries you and therefore weddings are not able to take place on weekends. The time of your wedding also depends on when the officer can come to the hotel, however we do our best to get it as close to when you want as possible.
Weddings in Mauritius are legal however are not religious.
If you would like to have a religious ceremony, you would need to bring your own officiant, or we can request this from our experts on the island who are more than happy to assist.
Once your wedding has been performed, a marriage certificate will be issued. Upon your return from your magical honeymoon, you would need to register your wedding in South Africa at your nearest home affairs office.
The Paperwork Eight weeks prior to your wedding in Mauritius, we require the following documentation so that we can send it to the Mauritian civil status office ahead of time to prepare all your documentation.
1) A copy of both your passports 2) An updated unabridged birth certificate, issued no earlier than 3 months before you travel. 3) If you have had a name change, then an official document reflecting that change of name. 4) Proof of home address as this is where the wedding certificate can be sent.
Should you be divorced or windowed, we require the following additional documents.
1) A divorce decree of the person married before 2) A death certificate if either of you were married before and your partner passed away during the previous marriage. 3) A former wedding certificate if either of you have been married before.
There are a few conditions if you are getting married again.
• Your wedding can only be celebrated 300 days after the date of a divorce decree or the date of the death certificate of a former spouse. • A medical certificate needs to be provided stating that a spouse-to-be is not pregnant. This pregnancy test needs to be done in Mauritius by a recognized local practitioner. If found to be positive, the wedding unfortunately cannot be held in Mauritius.
Kindly note that all documents required need to be in either French or English otherwise needs to be translated accordingly.
When renewing your vows, the only documents required is your marriage certificate
It is very important to remember that you will be required to have the original documentation with you when in Mauritius.
Taking care of the formalities To ensure everything flows smoothly on the day, it is important that you arrive in Mauritius at least three working days before your ceremony, as you will need to visit the Supreme Court. This is where your documentation will be checked and where you will be asked to declare that you are not already married. Your wedding can take place 24 hours after the publication of the banns.
If you are only renewing your vows and are already married, you only need to arrive in Mauritius two working days before the date of your ceremony.

Ceremony venues The setting for your wedding is all-important and Ambre – with its white sandy beach, crystal-clear waters and beautiful scenery – is one of the very best.
We can also arrange for a religious ceremony at the hotel or in a church/ temple (for a supplementary fee). Additional documents will then be needed.
The after-party If the idea of wrapping things up before 11 p.m. has little appeal to you, then how about an after -party? After all the main events, your close friends and family are sure to love celebrating at Ti-bar, which is perched on the beach, around bonfires, with rum, toasted marshmallows and a DJ.
What you need to know... Sun Resorts Management Ltd guarantees to have no more than one wedding per day at the hotel.
Upon your arrival at the hotel, explore every corner of the site to find the best spot for your ceremony and take pictures, and then meet with your wedding co-ordinator to check the documentation and make a final selection of flowers, cake and so on.
The marriage licence and the administrative fees, civil officer transport and apostille (official government document) are not included in the above wedding packages. The fees will be collected by your tour operator/travel agent.
In the event of inclement weather, a ceremony back-up location will be suggested to you. This may entail additional charges.

Ceremony Venues Sugar Beach boasts more than just tropical views. With the largest resort waterfront, enjoy miles of white sandy beaches, blue lagoons and freshwater canals. Many guests choose to host their ceremonies on the resort’s pristine beaches and simply love an al fresco evening under a Bedouin-style tent with the sand between their toes. But there are also many other spectacular venues to choose from!
We can also arrange for certain religious ceremonies at the resort (for a supplementary fee). Additional documents will then be needed.
The after-party Whatever the size of the wedding party, we have a variety of unique locations available to host celebration toasts, cocktail parties, elegant buffet dinners, plated meals, picnics in the gardens or a bon voyage brunch. An after-party at the stunning Buddha Beach Bar and Restaurant or around a fire pit at Citronella is one-of-a-kind experiences that treat your nearest and dearest to an event they’ll remember for years to come.
What you need to know... Sun Resorts Management Ltd guarantees to have no more than one wedding per day at the hotel.
Upon your arrival at the hotel, explore every corner of the site to find the best spot for your ceremony and take pictures, and then meet with your wedding co-ordinator to check the documentation and make a final selection of flowers, cake and so on.
The marriage license and the administrative fees, civil officer transport and apostille (official government document) are not included in the wedding package fees. They will be collected by your tour operator/travel agent.
In the event of inclement weather, a ceremony back-up location will be suggested to you. This may entail additional charges.
A minimum service fee (as from 3140 ZAR) will be applicable for any outsourced services organised by the guests (entertainment, photographers, floral arrangements etc...). Any special product requests are subject to additional fees.

Ceremony Venues Nothing is more beautiful than a spectacular sunset beach ceremony. Whether you’re pic- turing a traditional reception or a more casual event, you will enjoy personal professional service. And there are other spectacular venues within the resort if that is what you fancy!
We can also take care of the arrangements for a religious ceremony at the hotel or in a church/ temple (for a supplementary fee). Additional documents will then be needed.
The after-party If you want the fun to continue, the drinks to flow and the party to carry on, the Morne Beach Bar makes a beautiful reception venue for a late-night soirée. We can also host you for a picnic in our gardens or a bon-voyage brunch.
