If you are new to the parish please call the office to register.

Hospital Admissions: Please notify the Church Office if you or your loved one is admitted to the hospital. We have missed visiting several of our parishioners because we were not notified by the hospital’s Pastoral Staff office that they were admitted. It is important for you to tell the staff on your floor that you want your parish notified about your admission. This will enable our parish nurse/pastoral staff to contact you. You will also be able to get Holy Communion regularly while you are in the hospital if the Pastoral Office has you on their list.

PARISH HEALTH MINISTRY Everyday Anxiety and How to Befriend this Anxiety

Men’s Health Awareness Month

June is Men’s Health Awareness month. Currently, men are dying an average of 5 years younger than women and they lead in 9 out of 10 of the top causes of death. Men are at greater risk of death in every age group. Men do not see physicians for physical exam nearly as often as women. The purpose of this month to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and to encourage early detection and treatment of diseases among men and boys. There is progress being made thanks to more publicity and more attention to this matter. There is more emphasis on encouraging men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.

If you have male loved ones or friends in your life please help to support the health and safety of these men. Set an example for them with healthy habits.

Eat healthy and include a variety of fruits and vegetables every day. These foods have many important vitamins and minerals that may help protect you from chronic diseases.

Limit foods high in calories, sugar, salt, fat and alcohol.

Get regular physical activity. It can help control weight, decrease risk of heart disease and some cancers. It is also important for mental health and improve our mood. Find something fun to do together.

Set an example by choosing not to smoke and encourage the men in your life to stop smoking if they do smoke. Quitting smoking has immediate and long-lasting benefits. To quit, contact state’s tobacco quitting line- 1-800-Quit-Now.

Help men in your life to recognize and reduce stress in their lives. Physical and emotional tension are often signs of stress. Help them learn ways to find support and reduce stress.

Encourage them to get regular health care and to go for a doctor’s appointment if they are having problems.

Why Do Catholics Do That: …the really long prayer at Mass…? You find yourself kneeling for what feels like an hour, or maybe twenty minutes, or an eternity, it’s hard to tell. The priest is praying a long prayer from the Roman Missal at the altar – the Eucharistic Prayer, also called the Canon of the Mass or the Anaphora (liturgy). There are four forms of the Eucharistic Prayer, which vary in length and content. This is the central part of the Mass, where the priest offers on our behalf thanksgiving to God and consecrates bread and wine to become the Eucharist. When we come to this Liturgy of the Eucharist, we find ourselves made present to an event that occurred in the past, but was made for eternity: the saving act of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins, “Christ’s Passover” (Catechism para. 1364). The Eucharistic Prayer is a memorial of this sacrifice, but it goes beyond remembering – we are truly present to these events: the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection of Jesus. It’s helpful sometimes to meditate on this, that while our knees may be going numb, Jesus prays this prayer through the priest at our altar as He has done at the Last Supper, and on the cross! The green Missalette has the text for what the priest is praying, found on pg 12.Want to see where in the Bible Jesus does something like our Eucharistic Prayer? Check out John 17:1-26 for Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer.

Hersheypark on June 16th! We

had a great group of teens and

It was a perfect start to the start

you to everyone who purchased

Hersheypark tickets, which

allowed us all to go for free!
