Welcome to our second week of our final school term where we are promoting this week's Key Value of 'Being Strong' - making good choices and being in class, on task. Our Key Value will be discussed and promoted throughout the week at school and as always we sincerely appreciate the support you give by discussing with your child/ren the importance of this Key Value; what it looks like in words and actions and its importance to our learning.
The Combined Schools 3/4 Sports Day - Congratulations and well done to our students who had a wonderful day participating in the Year 3/4 Sports Day last Friday. A special thanks to Ms Gold who organised and co-ordinated the successful day with the support of teachers from local public schools. Well done everyone.
Special Forever - Voices of the Children. This Art Exhibition is currently on display at the Mildura Art Centre Gallery until the 27th November. The exhibition includes many pieces of our student work and is an environmental awareness and writing project. Students were encouraged to write and produce works of art about where they live, the local environment, local, national or global issues Later this term as a school we anticipate visiting the Gallery to see the Special Forever Exhibition and we thank Naomi & Ros for co-ordinating the selected pieces from our school and to Rosemary Zalec who has co-ordinated the event on behalf of all Sunraysia schools. If in Mildura, we encourage you to view the exhibition.
Amazing Aussie Animals - visited our school today. Our children enjoyed a wonderful exhibition of some of Australia's wildlife. The Show taught our students many interesting aspects of some of Australia's common and not-so-common wildlife; their habitat, lifestyle, food etc. Some photos have been included for all to enjoy. We thank Sarah and her team for visiting our school and for Mrs Bracken for co-ordinating the visit.
Thank you all for supporting our students and school and as always, if you have a concern about any aspect of your child's schooling, please come and discuss it with me.

Last week K/1 students listened to the picture book story, ‘River Boy.’ The story is about a grandpa and his grandson who go on a camping trip down the Murray River until they reach the sea. It explores many important aspects some of which include, the animals that inhabit the river system, changes that have occurred to the river over time and the environmental & human impacts on the river system. We will be visiting this book over the next few weeks to assist our learning and understanding of the Murray River in our community context. I am hoping to also organise a visit to a local canoe tree as the grandpa discussed to his grandson in the story. Following the reading each student shared both
verbal and written ideas with the class. I have put some student responses on todays page.
Last week we welcomed three new students to our classroom. Welcome back Jamie Lee and Jasmine who commenced the year in our room. We also welcome Andrew into our room and we hope you all enjoy being in our room.
This morning our class joined the Emu class in the culture room for an ‘Australian Animal Show.’ I will share some photos in next weeks newsletter of our experience.

I apologise that I didn’t get a chance to publish a newsletter page last week and, for those of you that have been waiting, I hope you enjoy the
following pages of photos from our trip to Swan Hill. Have a great week,
Fiona Turner, Susan McGlynn and the Goannas.
Greeting families and friends ! We hope you had a nice weekend and that you had fun at the Mildura Show if you got the chance to go.
We started the term with a busy first week and welcomed another new student to our class, Tamzin.

Last Friday Dareton Public School hosted the Murray Darling PSSA Year 3/4 Sports Skills Day. The day promoted student participation in a range of drills across a variety of team sports. It also promoted students being grouped with students and staff across all schools.
Staff and students from Euston, Gol Gol, Palinyewah, Pomona and Wentworth participated in this day. Apologies were given by Buronga School who had already committed to another event.
The focus sports were basketball, netball, cricket, touch football, T’ball, AFL, Soccer and Tabloid sports. To assist in the delivery of each sport we were lucky to have the support of Coomealla High School teacher Duncan Driscoll and some year 9 and 10 students. A big thank you to all who assisted in delivering the drills and engaging students positively in physical activity.
Dareton Public School Playgroup is support by Schools As Communities Centres
We are running Playgroup & Transition to school at the same time. Children that are starting school next year will start to get to know
the routine of school and familiarise themselves with things that happen at school.
Playgroup children will be learning how to play, share and enjoy others.
Parents will be able to do some scrapbooking, cooking etc
