Welcome to week 6 at Dareton Public School Our school’s virtue of the week is: thankfulness.
This means that we:
• are thankful for the gifts of life • we appreciate our abilities instead of envying others
• see the difficulties of life as opportunities to learn • enjoy our sense of wonder about the beauty in the world
• are willing to receive what others have to give • count our blessings everyday I would like acknowledge the great work of Mrs Weinert and school captains who led the Remembrance Day assembly with respect, pride and excellence.
The students conduct was excellent.
Thanking staff for the excellence supervision of students during the swimming
program and the transition program.
Welcome to Michelle Benson from School Engagement and Lauren Boundy
who will be visiting and providing support to our school.
A reminder to all staff, parents, students and community that Dareton Public school is a uniform school. Please encourage students to attend school in full
uniform.
Dareton students will be rewarded with an in-school disco this Friday.
At Dareton Public School we are SAFE, PROUD, SMART AND STRONG

In English, we are working on informative texts. We have been reading texts about animals which is part of our Mappen unit -’Great and Small’. Last week we learnt about honey bees, Polar bears and Killer whales. The students have been learning how to write using facts to create texts that give other readers information.
Hello everyone and welcome to week 6. I hope that you have all had a great week and as the count down begins to rapidly approach Christmas that you all take a few minutes to have some time to yourself and relax before the ‘Silly Season’ actually hits us! Last weeks achievement awards were given to three students instead of the usual two. The reason for this was that 2 of the young ladies had academic achievements and the third was a respect and responsibility award. Shivontae and Jamie-Lee both did an amazing job selecting and sorting decimal place value (with 2 digits) and Missy went to see Cheryl—our wonderful classroom cleaner that does an amazing job each and every day to keep our class clean and tidy to thank her for her efforts. Our Student of the week was Ciera. Ciera has had an awesome week with staying on task, listening to and following instructions and being very com-pliant when asked to do something. Just as a student should be doing when they are heading into Year 5!! Well done girls, you should all be very proud of what you achieved during the week. We here in Perch class would like to say bye for the week…. Please remember that Wednesday is forecast to be over 40* , stay cool, drink plenty of water and remember it’s not even Summer yet… what’s it going to be like when it comes?
Goannas The intense swimming program has ended. It was great seeing students enjoying themselves while
learning vital skills. The improvement in these skills was very evident.
Literacy -- In class this week we have concentrated on using the ‘Seven Steps to Writing Success’ to plan and begin research for an Informative piece of writing. Students have embraced this program and are looking forward to producing quality work.
Mathematics focus - - reflecting on all sub strands we have studied throughout the semester.
Music -- theory of playing the ukulele. Those that participate are enjoying learning the skills. Students are also using Ipads to create their own musical works.
