Maruti 800 is a city car manufactured by Maruti Suzuki inIndia. It is a rebadged version of an old model of

the Suzuki Alto. Over 2.5 million Maruti 800's have been

sold since its launch in 1983.

It used to be the best selling car in India until 2004; upon

its launch the MarutiAlto[5] took that title.

4:DECLINE

Maruti Suzuki is planning a phase out of Maruti 800beginning in April 2010. Maruti Suzuki does not have

plans to upgrade it to Euro IV or BS IV emission norms.

Starting April 2010, Maruti will stop selling the car in 13

major cities ± the four metros and 9 other cities

including Kanpur , Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedab

ad, Agra and Surat, where the law made it mandatory for

the vehicles sold to be Euro IV compliant. Maruti 800 will

be sold in other cities until 2015±16.

Introduction

It is manufactured in india by marutisuzuki. It was

introduced in the indian market in december 1985 with the970 cc f10a suzuki engine and while sales were never

very high it became very popular with law enforcement. It

was codenamed mg410, which stood for "maruti gypsy 4

cylinder 1.0 litre engine.

In India, in collaboration with India¶s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti, Suzukilaunched the car as theMarutiKizashi on 2Februar y 2011. It was ex pected to be a CBU(Com pletely Built Unit), so heavy im port dutiesmay push its prices to a higher point thanoriginally intended. The MarutiKizashi is priced ataround 1.6 to 1.75 million Indian ru pees (46 INR =$1).[7]

This model has a J24B 2.4 petrol engine with 4cylinder 16 valves DOHC. The 2400cc engine isca pable of producing 185 h p of peak power at6,500 r pm (manual transmission) and 180 h p at6,000 r pm (CVT). It churns 170 Nm of peak torque



at 4,000 r pm. The MarutiKizashi utilizes a directignition system for increased fuel efficiency withdecreased emissions. With the hel p of this and

other engine technologies, the car gives 9 km pl incity and 12 km pl at highway. The maximum fueltank ca pacity of the car is 63 litre.
