WHAT IS MARRUECOS ON BIKE?

Marruecos On Bike is a MTB race for stages that is disputed annually in Morocco and has a duration of eight days. The sixth and next edition will take place between the 8th and 15th of October, 2016.

The race will have five stages that will go through the Atlas, the mountains of the Sagro and the Sahara desert in Merzouga. Summarizing, 408km of adventure, challenge and emotion.

It will be an experience that you will enjoy if you are a cycling lover and you like travelling and discovering new places. Be sure that you will never forget it, because there, the only limit will be the one that you will set yourself.

WHO ARE WE?

Behind “Marruecos On Bike” there is a team formed by people with more than thirty years of experience in the organization of sport events all over the world, organized trips and other activities related to sport.

Besides its baggage, the team proposes to spread its philosophy of generating a good environment of companionship, warmth and passion for living through an adventure that will join people with the same interest: cycling. With this, the organization promises to help and collaborate with this sport to promote, among other things, its good practice.

MARRUECOS ON BIKE

TRAVEL SCHEDULE

DAY 1: 8th October 2016

Departures from the respective airports to Fez (Mo-rocco), following the following schedules:

2:30pm. - Madrid (Airport Adolfo Suárez Madrid - Barajas) 3:05pm. - Fez

7:45pm. - Barcelona (Airport of The Prat)8:45pm. - Fez

There, all the participants will be picked up and transferred to Hotel Taddart in Midelt. Once insta-lled, two briefings will be done, one for those of Ma-drid and others for those of Barcelona.


From 8:30am to 9:30am. - Breakfast at Hotel Tad-dart.10:30am. – 1st stage Midelt- Tagoudit 63km.At the end of the stage: 100km trasfer to Hotel Izla-ne in Imilchil.8:00pm. – Dinner and handing over of trophies.9:15pm. - Briefing.


6:00am. – Breakfast at Hotel Izlane.35km transfer to the start point.7:30am. – 2nd stage Agdal- Tamtatoucht 101km.20km transfer to Hotel Taborit.8:00pm. – Dinner and handing over of trophies.9:15pm. - Briefing.


6:00am. – Breakfast at Hotel Taborit.20km transfer to the start point.7:30am. – 3rd stage Tinghir-Thighirna 100km.Transfer to Hotel Meteorites.8:00pm. – Dinner and handing over of trophies.9:15pm. - Briefing.


6:00am. – Breakfast at Hotel Meteorites.80km transfer to the start point.7:30am. - 4th stage Tamarna- Erg Chebbi 86km.Transfer to Zand Fich camp.8:00pm. – Dinner and handing over of trophies.9:15pm. - Briefing.

DAY 6: 13 de octubre de 2016

8:00am. – Breakfast at Zand Fich camp.9:30am. – 5th stage Erg Chebbi- Erfoud 58km.Transfer to Hotel Jnane La Kasbah.8:00pm. – Dinner 9:15pm. - Handing over of trophies and farewell party.


Day off.

Transfer to Hotel Taddart in Midelt.


Breakfast at the hotel and tranfer to the airport.

RACE SCHEDULE

1st STAGE.- Midelt - Tagoudit

Day: 9 de octubre de 2016Distance: 63kmMinimum height: 1438mMaximum height: 2241kmUphill: 945mDownhill: 775m

The stage crosses the Jbel Ayachi mountain, one of the highest mountains of North-Africa (3747m of altitude above the sea level).

One of the peculiarities of the tour is the amazing contrast, product of the constant changes of vege-tation and landscapes.

2nd STAGE.- Agdal - Tamtatoucht


As in the previous stage, we will be able to see won-derful landscapes. In addition, the race will finish in Todra’s famous Throats, a cannon of vertical walls that has become one of the most visited places in Morocco, due to its showiness.

3rd STAGE.- Thinghir – Thighirna


In this stage we will leave behind the High Atlas to enter into the Sagro mountains. Being on the verge of the huge Sahara, the landscape will adopt an au-thentic lunar style.

4th STAGE.- Tamarna - Erg Chebbi Day: 12 de octubre de 2016Distance: 86km Minimum height: 701mMaximum height: : 851kmUphill: 339mDownhill: 413m

We will keep crossing the sand mountains, as well as we will cross a mountain pass of 851m of altitu-de. The stage will end in Erg Chebbi’s majestic du-nes.

5th STAGE.- Erg Chebbi – Erfoud Day: 13 de octubre de 2016Distance: 58kmMinimum height: 734mMaximum height: 868kmUphill: 193mDownhill: 105m

In this stage we will go through a mountain pass of 3km of distance. In addition, we will remain in the purest desert. Finally, from Erg Chebbi we will go to Erfoud, which is an oasis city in the Sahara Desert.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

PARTICIPANT’S PROFILE

Do you like adventures, challen-ges and do you want to have fun?

Then you have to be part of Ma-rruecos On Bike!

The only requirement is to be over 18 years old.

If you are 16 bring your parents/legal guardian authorization.

REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN MARRUECOS ON BIKE

All the participants have to:

1. Respect the traffic code.2. Respect the environment.

Bicycles:

3. Only MTB in good condition will be accepted.4. The bicycles must be prepared and ready to go at the start point in every stage.5. The manillares and extensions must not have sharped or irregu-lar edges.6. The maintenance of the MTB is a responsibility of every rider.7. It is obligatory to bring a toe re-placement.

Healthcare:

8. The riders must be in shape and healthy.9. Medical review is recommen-ded before the trip.10. The organization reserves the right, under the race director point of view, to decide if a rider must continue de race or not.

Clothing

11. Riders must wear a helmet.12. Riders must wear a maillot and a culotte.13. Gloves.14. Rucksack of hydration.15. Sunglasses (U.V protection).16. GPS (recommended).

* The breach of the requirements described in this page can suppose the no- participation in the race or the expulsion of this one (in case it has already begun).
