Conversion Process Debit
• RM/Client will fill out EMV Questionnaire - Debit
› Client must have card design/artwork prior to submitting project.
• Option 1: Oberthur generic or custom card stock
• Option 2: G&D “white plastics” – custom artwork or choose from Oberthur
stock images
› Determine if EMV Advisory Services will be in scope
• Service Manager will open EMV eRequest. This will
kick-off the project and a Conversion Manager will be
assigned.
› Legal addendum must be signed prior to opening of eRequest.
EMV Rollout Strategy Reissue Options - Debit
• Natural Reissue – Vantiv’s recommended strategy
› All cards going forward from “X” date will be EMV
• Pros: no need to change card extracts/web services/MCIF, spread cost of reissue over time
• Cons: not all cards will be EMV by October 2015 liability shift
• Mass Reissue
› Reissue all plastics – stagger expiration dates over time
• Pros: no need to change card extracts/web services/MCIF, all cards will be EMV by October
2015 liability shift
• Cons: incur reissue costs at once
• Selective Reissue
› Allow FI to reissue mag stripe and EMV cards at the same time within a given BIN,
offering EMV cards to individuals with specific profiles
• Pros: save on plastic costs by not giving everyone an EMV plastic
• Cons: card extract/web services/MCIF change required, not all cards will be EMV by October
2015 liability shift

EMV Rollout Strategy Testing Requirements - Debit
• Authorization Message › No EMV Data - internal testing only, no core involvement
• No changes to authorization message
• Core will not be able to use, display or report any EMV data
› Partial EMV Data - testing with core is required
• NEW field in authorization message, no change to existing fields
• Core may or may not use the new information in the authorization, display or
reports
› Full EMV Data - testing with core is required
• NEW fields in authorization message
• CHANGE to existing fields in authorization message
• Core may or may not use the new information in the authorization, display or
reports
9
EMV Rollout Strategy Testing Requirements - Debit
• Activity File (Settlement) › No EMV Data - internal testing only, no core involvement
• No changes to Activity File
• Core will not be able to use, display or report any EMV settlement data
› Full EMV Data - testing with core is required
• Additional information in Activity File, indicating EMV detail
• Core may or may not use the new information in the authorization, display or
reports
• Card Extracts/Web Services/MCIF › No change required if BIN issues EMV exclusively
› Recertification required if BIN will allow mag stripe AND EMV plastics
• New fields will have to be populated
• Testing will be required
› Web Services/MCIF will not be ready before Q1 2015
10
EMV Program Fast Track Debit
• Reissue – Natural › Do not allow both mag and chip cards to be issued under the same BIN.
› Choose a date and have all cards going forward be issued as EMV plastics (new and
reissues).
› No CDX/Web Services/MCIF changes are required because there is no mass issue,
so nothing needs to be coordinated with DBC.
• Testing – No EMV or Partial Authorization Data › The core does not have to be part of the authorization process so the EMV data in
the message is purely informational. This can cut down on testing time.
• Card Production – G&D white plastics › This cuts down rollout timing significantly because custom EMV plastics do not have
to be created and the FI does not need to maintain EMV stock. This can be either
custom artwork or chosen from a library of stock designs. (we are presently at 12
weeks from date of custom EMV card approval to plastics being ready for testing)

Conversion Process Credit Unique BIN

will kick-off the project.
› Legal addendum must be signed prior to opening of E-Request.
3. For First Wave Implementation by Q1 2015, all forms are due by
