After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).

Faith Of Her FatherMark 5:35-42

(Part 2)

Some of the tests Jarius went through:

1. Test Of Dignity A ruler with his face in the mud.

2. Test Of Disease A lack of health can warp faith and make

you come to some poor conclusions.

16When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply

17till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.

(Psalms 73:16-17)

I couldn’t figure it out until I went to church.

3. Test Of Delay What do you do when God makes you

wait for your answer? Maybe Jarius was in greater need of

a divine touch than his daughter’s health was.

God wants to find out:1. If we will wait for His agenda, or2. If we will try to push our agenda on Him

4. Test Of Derision Radical faith will get mocked. Most of the world laughs at claims

of God:

• Creation• Business ethics

in light of final judgment

• Jesus’ return• Empty tomb• Jesus is the

only way

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are

perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

(I Corinthians 1:18)

5. Test Of Death

Lovely little body doesn’t look asleep.

One of Mark’s points – Death is not what it looks

like when faith is present.

13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as

do the rest who have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those

who have fallen asleep in Jesus. (I Thessalonians 4:13-14)

To a believer death is only sleep.

The central miracle of the Bible is the resurrection.

25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes

in Me will live even if he dies, 26and everyone who lives and believes in Me

will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
