All Welcome

From Espresso making to Mochaccinos, the STAR Barista course was highly rewarding and has given me a variety of skills I can implement into, not only my work environment, but socially. The course was across three days with both theory and practical aspects which enabled me to gain great understanding of coffee and the history behind it whilst putting it into practice. My favourite part of the course was learning about the process of coffee and how it is produced. During tertiary study over the next few years I am wanting to nd p le r n a l al a h r e ha all ed e t

improve my CV and has taught me customer service skills which I will be able to put into practice once gaining a part-time job in th eld he r e a r n y e ealand S h l d and ne y t t tand n and pr ent t t r I re end thhis course to students as it teaches life-long skills, opens your eyes to the world of coffee and the amazing people we meet along the way. Taylor Jackson, Yr 13

STAR Barista Course ExperienceEarly Childhood experience with GatewayGateway taught me more of Early Childhood Education, which is what I am aiming to do in the future. Having experience at an Early Childhood Centre for eight days has helped me decide that it is what I want in the future. I learnt how to interact with the children by seeing the staff members who have been in the Early Childhood industry for a long time interact with them. Gateway provided me with a First Aid Course which has provided a lot of knowledge that was new to me and it prepared me for when an injury or an accident occurs in the future. The experience will also help me when I go to University after completing College and in so many other ways when thinking about future careers. Karen Vivera, Yr 12

On Saturday 5th August three senior French students, Hope Goodsir, Lauren Cole and Britney D’Souza participated in the Auckland Secondary Schools French Debating Competition. They were narrowly beaten y e tla e B y h S h l n the r r t de ate

French Success

Here is what some of the International Students wrote about their adventures in New Zealand:

“Sky tower is very tall at 328m, as an icon of Auckland’s sky line for almost 20years.I think it is very cool and beautiful because people can jump down.It very interesting.” Belinda“The Auckland Town Hall is historic building located on Queen Street. It was built in 1911. I love the style of architecture this building has used as it is very Victorian looking and has lots of detailed carvings. This fascinates me as I don’t often see such grand buildings in my city of Hong Kong.” MaddyI went to visit a Marist family with daughters Bella and Lily with my host family. Their house is very big and wonderful! They who are living at the house were very kind for me. There was a spa, and the two daughters, my host brother and sister played there. We ate some sweets and drink some juice.I had a good time there with my host family. I was very happy. Kayo Fujiwara

I went to Bikanervala restaurant with my host family. I ate curry. It was a little spicy but very delicious. I want to eat this curry again. Rio SagawaI went to gym and I taught rope jumping to children. I think that Kiwi people are very kind and cheerful. I like them very much! Mayu Segawa I saw Netball last Saturday because my host mother is a Net Ball coach. The Netball place had many courts and many people. I was very surprised. It seemed a lot of fun. I want try Netball someday!! Juan Sato
