Hey Hot Rodders,
The Grand National Roadster Show was awesome. Lots of beautiful cars. World’s most
beautiful Roadster Contenders were all pretty amazing. The winner, 36 Packard built by
Hollywood Hot Rods, it was not my pick but it was a work of art. The GNRS is really cool
and should be on the to do list for every hot rodder.
After a long miserable winter things are starting to happen around here. Already been to a
couple of swap meets with several more coming up. Sunnyside car show is just around the
corner. It’s always fun! Guess I better get out to the shop and finish putting the new trans
in the ’35.
Life’s short, drive a hot rod.
John
ROD RUN REPORT
HI VINTIQUES,
Short but sweet:
Thanks to all that came to the Rodrun meeting in February. We are still looking for to fill
the committee for garbage/trash pickup. I will be meeting with Ray at the fairgrounds to discuss
the possibility of fairgrounds staff helping us with that as well if we can’t staff it. I fear it will be
expensive though.
Other discussions included:
AWARDS: Having more than one place to collect ballots for the Peoples Choice award, (info
booth and Vintiques memorabilia booth) and possibly re-vamping the car award categories.3

Hot Rod Reunion, Bakersfield CA
If you love vintage dragsters, the Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield, CA is the place to go!
John and I headed down in the ’35 last fall to watch them for the second time. And we plan
to go again! Not only do you see lots of cool old dragsters, but also some racing legends
hanging around the track for the weekend. Tommy “T.V” Ivo, Don Prudhome, John
Force, Del Worsham, Robert Hight…just to name a few. If you drive your hot rod, you get
to park right inside Famoso next to the bleachers so there’s also pretty much a car show to
look at as a lot of people cruise there in their hot rod. They have a swap meet, lots of
venders, pit action and fun events to watch such as the Cacklefest on Saturday night.
John’s favorite is the fuel altereds and mine is the old gassers. Though I have to admit I
get just as big a kick out of watching the pusher cars/trucks and the back-up girls. If you
haven’t been and you’re a drag racing fan, I would definitely suggest you put this on your
bucket list!
Splasher’s Restaurant Saturday Morning Cruise In, Kona, Hawaii
Hey guys, did you know you can take your wife to Hawaii and still enjoy car stuff while
you’re there??? Just ask Bill Wallace. Every Saturday morning a group of hot rodders
meet at Splasher’s restaurant in Kona, Hawaii for an impromptu car show. They have had
as many as 30 cars, the day Bill went there were 14. The 32 Ford Phaeton belongs to Dick
Scritchfield who was an editor of Car Craft Magazine.

From the Editor
Yes, it’s me again! Just here trying to endure the cold winter filling in for Bill while he basks in
the Hawaiian sunshine. He reminded me frequently with pictures of him beside the pool
surrounded by palm trees. Yes, I’m a sucker for agreeing to help him out. But as a typical girl,
revenge will be mine at an unknown time and place. Because we never forget. Ever. In the
meantime, here’s a nice picture of Bill’s sexy legs as he lays by the pool. Let’s just hope they
have accumulated a little more tan before he returns home.
On an actual official newsletter item, for new club officers and committee heads, please review
your contact info in the newsletter and send Bill any missing or updated information. Getting
excited to see you all out and about this spring!
