Students can use the library during study hall or lunch. Coming soon …. K’Nex It! Get Graphic! Graphic books? Comic books? Aren’t those just glorified picture books? Actually, graphic novels contain more advance vocabulary than traditional text at the same grade/interest level. It is also a great way to teach visual literacy. Mrs. Myers talked to Mr. Plaistad’s science classes about comics as a literary form including introducing them to the layout terms. Students analyzed different samples from books and submitted the answer to Mrs. Myers for a grade. Later, they created comic strips for Mr. Plaistad that showed Newton’s Laws of Motion. Contact Mrs. Myers or Mrs. Layne about integrating comics with your classes!
