Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We thank those who already made their commitments to our Campaign and we remind you that you can wait for the reminders to come in the mail making your first payments following the instructions given by the Archdiocese. After you receive the instructions in the mail, payments will be mailed to the Archdiocese as they hold our parish’s account for the Campaign and they will send us report updates systematically. The money collected will be released by the Archdiocese to fund the projects mentioned in the Campaign case. The suc-cess of our Campaign depends on the participation of us all. Yours in Christ, Rev. Richard Milek

Parish Rummage Sale The Parish Pastoral Council will be sponsoring a parish rummage sale in late April. Please save your unneeded clothing and household items that are in good condition for this event. Kindly ask your family and friends to do the same. Please pray for those who have died and their families:

Respect Life “Historically before Hippocrates’ time, the doctor had a dual obligation that is to cure if they could and if they couldn’t cure, to do people in with hemlock. And that dual obligation, when it came to Hippocrates and that point in Greek History, Hippocrates basically said this is not working, nobody will ever trust us if we have this dual responsibility. So we are going to dump that one part of our obligation that is the killing, and only cure. And under no circumstances do any kind of killing. And of course what is happening is gradually that’s eroded and doctors are going back to the three pre-Hippocratic practices that Hippocrates tried to stop, that is not having hemlock readily available to kill people, not aborting people, and not having sex with them. Unfortunately in current medicine there is aborting people, there is euthanasia, and having sex. And you now begin to realize why the practice of medicine and the medical profession is losing credibility.”

From the Pastor’s Desk… These words of the Prophet Zephaniah, from the First Reading, are an excellent reminder for each person who is looking for happiness on Earth and true happiness in Heaven. It is also a beautiful thought to consider at this time, when we stand at the threshold of Lent and need to decide how we will live through this holy time. I think that it is difficult to pick a better goal for Lent than to seek God and justice, and, as the prophet reminds us, the key to the search is humility. At this time of the year all the parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago are doing the Annual Catholic Appeal and we are doing the To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign follow up instead. I wish to thank everyone who submitted a generous pledge for our Campaign and I want to ask those who did not have the opportunity to return their pledges to do it in the near future. You can return the pledges to the rectory or deposit the envelopes in the collection basket. I also want to thank all who participated in the Archdiocesan leadership day last Saturday. Our parish was represented by a few people who either currently participate in Parish life or hope to increase their activity levels. I hope that their willingness to learn about the Archdiocesan programs will serve as an example to others interested in actively supporting our parish life. I want to thank all new volunteers for parish ministries and encourage others to do so by filling out the registration form below. This Wednesday begins the Lenten season. Ash Wednesday is a very important day for all faithful, and we invite all to participate in a Mass. By attending Mass we begin Lent with God and embark on this time of penance and renewal. Ashes will be distributed as a part of mass or prayer service. As with previous years you are invited to participate in the Way of the Cross. I assure you all of my remembrance in prayer so that all may have a fruitful Lenten season. One of the Lenten resolutions suggested by the Archdiocese is to set aside 15 minutes each day to read the 4 Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John covering two chapters per day. -Fr. Rich

Dziękujemy i prosimy o dalsze zgłoszenia ochotników do służby duszpasterskiej jako ministranci, lektorzy, szafarze Eucharystii, marszałkowie, członkowie grupy muzycznej i innych grup duszpasterskich. Zachęcamy do udziału w nabożeństwach wielkopostnych: Droga Krzyżowa w każdy piątek o godzinie 7:00pm w kościele i Gorzkie Żale w niedziele o godzinie 5:30pm z kazaniem Pasyjnym które wygłosi Ojciec Dominikanin Ks. Jan Słodowski, z Polski z Sanktuarium Matki Bożej w Gidlach, skąd pochodzi Ks. Marcin. Po Gorzkich Żalach Msza Św. o godzinie 6:00pm. -Ks. Ryszard
