2. Introduction

Introduction2.

 This manual covers printer specications and operating- and

maintenance procedures or servicing the FutureLogic™ PSA-66-ST2R (serial interace) voucher printer. This printer is also

known by its trade name GEN2™, which is also used within this

manual.

 This manual does not cover the PSA-66-ST2N (Netplex typ)

printer, as this type is not supported by ATRONIC gaming ma-

chines.

Supported Software2.1

 The GEN2™ printer is supported by ollowing ATRONIC game

sotware versions:

Hi(!)bility™ / e-motion™ machines with sotware level B1.1•

or higher.

Hi(!)bility™ / Harmony™ machines with sotware level C1.1•

or higher.

Cashline™ machines with sotware P-Level only.•

 The GEN2™ printer is not supported by:

Printer Sensors4.2

Paper Out

 The paper out sensor is located in the print head. It terminatesthe print operation when the paper has run out and checks

or proper orm registration. Correct a paper out condition by

loading paper into the printer.

Paper Low

 The paper low sensor is located in the paper tray. It determines

when the paper stack has approximately 14 tickets remaining.

 The paper_low status is reported ater the unit has printed out

10 more tickets. A paper low condition automatically resets

once a new paper stack is loaded and the printer has been idle

or some seconds.

Paper Taken

 The paper taken sensor is located near the paper outlet. It de-

termines when the customer has actually taken the cashout

ticket.

Drawer Open

 The drawer open sensor detects when the printer is open.

Platen Engaged

 The platen engaged sensor is located in the print head. It de-

tects when the printer platen is in use.

Printer Open

 The printer open sensor is located in the ront o the unit. It

detects when the printer lid is open.

Ne: The actual status of certain sensors can be checked by us-

ing the host machine diagnostic function. Enter the host machine

Service Menu, select "Diagnostics" and navigate to the printer 

test menu.

5. Mounting

Mounting5.

 This is brie instruction how to mount a GEN2™ printer into a

Harmony™ or an e-motion™ cabinet. Please note that or e-motion™ machines usually a blue bezel is used. A mounting

instruction or Cashline™ machines is available as a seperate

document.

1. Check printer DIP switch settings (see chapter 6.5 “DIP

Switch Settings”).

2. Mount the bezel LED board to the ront bezel. The earth-

ing cable has to be mounted as illustrated. Do not squeeze

the cables between PCB and bezel.

3. Mount the bezel to the printer. Connect it to the bezel port

and x the cables with a cable tie as illustrated.

4. Slide out the printer drawer and mount the retainer plate

under the printer using 4 hex nuts M4. Take care not to

damage the copper earthing clips on the bottom o the

unit.

5. Thread the printer cable harness (connects the printer spi-

ral cable to the lterboard signal) into the cabinet. Con-

nect it to connector P1 at the lterboard signal (upper let)

and the other end to the 14-pin Molex™ connector o the

printer spiral cable. Leave the two smaller connectors o 

the printer spiral cable ree.

Ne: Please note that the GEN2™ 

 printer uses a shorter bezel than theold Seiko®/FutureLogic™ PSA-66-ST 

(GEN1) printer.

5. Mount the printer with attached retainer plate into the

cabinet and x it with 2 knurled nuts. Do not ully tightenthe knurled nuts to allow mounting depth adjustment

along the obholes.

6. Remove the cover rom the maindoor printer recess and

mount the printer rame cover instead (use a T10 torx

screwdriver). Do not ully tighten the screws to allow ad-

 justment.

7. Now careully close the maindoor and check the rame po-

sition. Adjust the printer mounting depth and the printer

rame cover allignment or best tting. The printer outletshould be in the middle o the rame cover and the space

arround the outlet should be as small as possible. The

unit should not be under pressure when the maindoor is

closed.

8. When the allignment is done, do ully tighten the screws

that hold the rame cover and the knurled nuts that hold

the printer. Again make sure that the unit is not under

pressure when the maindoor is closed.

At this point the mouting is completed.

Loading Paper6.1

1. Make sure that power is applied to the printer.

2. Slide open the printer drawer until the paper tray is com-

pletely accessible.

3. Remove any loaded paper remaining rom the old paper

stack.

4. Remove the tear o band rom the new paper stack and

place the paper stack into the paper tray.

Impan: The printable (blank) side has to face

down (even if otherwise stated on the paper it-

self). The top of form mark has to be on the lead-

ing edge of the ticket, facing upwards.

Ne: To prevent a new ticket stack from sticking together,

fan out the paper before you place it in the paper tray.

5. Insert the leading ticket into the printer mechanism.When the ticket is ed about 15 mm into the mechanism,

the printer automatically completes the eeding.

6. Remove the excess tickets rom the printer.

7. Slide in the printer drawer. The printer is now ready or

printing.

6.2 Feed Button

Use the FEED button located on the keypad to remove remain-

ing paper o an old paper stack or to advance loaded paper to

the next index mark.

 The GEN2™ printer eatures a LED indicator system that pro-

vides the condition o the printer by using solid or blinkingLEDs on the keypad or the ront bezel lighting to communi-

cate the status o the printer.

Ne: The actual printer status can be checked by using the

host machine diagnostic function. Enter the host machine Ser-

vice Menu, select “Diagnostics“ and navigate to the printer test 

menu.

6.4 Self Test

 The GEN2™ printer eatures a sel test unction. This sel test

prints a conguration ticket i the test passes successully.

1. Turn machine power o.

2. Press and hold the FEED button during power up. A con-

guration ticket is printed when the sel test passes suc-

cessully.

 The conguration ticket provides inormation about loaded

rmware and the communication settings made by means o 

the printer DIP switches. Following settings have to be cong-

ured to ensure proper printer operation:

6.5 DIP Switch SettingsFor proper operation in an ATRONIC gaming machine the

printer DIP switches have to be set to 9.600 baud, RTS mode

(hardware handshake).

7. Firmware Download

Firmware Download7.

 This chapter describes how to re-fash the printer rmware

using the FutureLogic™ download utility while the printer re-mains in the host machine. A special download cable (obtain-

able rom ATRONIC or FutureLogic™) is necessary to carry out

this procedure.

1. Install the "FLI downloader V200011" application sotware

(or a later version) to your computer.

2. Copy the new rmware le (*.VFX) into the older where

you have installed the "FLI downloader V200011" applica-

tion (usually C:\Program Files\FLI downloader).

3. Power down the host machine (or disconnect the printer

rom the host machine).

4. Pull out the printer drawer to get access to the printer DIP

switches. Set the printer DIP switches to 38.400 baud, Xon/

Xo mode or programming.

Do not alter the DIP switch settings while the printer is ac-

tive.

5. Start the "FLI downloader V200011" application and click 

the stop download button to veriy that the download

process is not active.

6. Select the GEN2 printers only check box to prevent load-

ing GEN2™ rmware into other printers.

7. Set up the download preerences.

a) Click the preerences button. The auto download pre-

erences dialog is displayed.

b) Select the COM port to which the printer is connected

(usually COM1), set the baud rate to 38.400 and click 

the apply button.

c) Click the select rmware button, select a rmware le

(*.VFX) and click the open button. The version number

o the selected rmware is displayed.

d) Click the save to le button and overwrite the AutoDL-

Pre.dat le.

e) Click the back to prior button to return to the main

menu. The main menu rereshes and displays le name,

rmware version and (optionally) the ticket template.

8. Connect the download cable to the computer serial port

and to the printer download port (next to the DIP switches)

and apply power to the printer (power up host machine).

9. When the printer powers up and the connection is estab-lished the screen will change to indicate that the printer

was detected. A COMM 1 older tab is added to the main

menu.

10. Feed paper into the printer (at least 2 tickets).

11. Select the comm 1 older tab and click the start download

button.

The download process will start and the download prog-

ress is displayed. Do not abort this process until thedownload is complete and the printer automatically

prints a ticket. A complete rmware update will take 2 - 8

minutes (depends on le size).

12. Ater the download is completed, the printer automatical-

ly prints a ticket showing the rmware version and ticket

template. Compare the rmware version with the version

displayed on screen. I the versions match, the download

was successul.

13. Click the abort download button.

14. Power down the printer (or the host machine) and set the

DIP switches back to operating mode (9.600 baud, hard-ware handshake).

The rmware download is now completed.

15. (Optional) Print a sel-test ticket. Press and hold the eed

button and apply power to the printer (power up host ma-

chine).

7.1 Firmware without "€" Sign

I a printer rmware (or a Euro game) does not support print-

ing the "€" sign, the host machine currency setting must be set

to "EUR" instead o "€" during Initial Setup. (See also Sotware

manual, chapter Initial Setup / Set Currency). Otherwise onlythe print control characters are printed on the ticket intead o 

the "€" sign.

8. Pin-out

Pin-Out8.

GEN2™ printers or use in ATRONIC gaming machines are

equipped with a spiral cable that ends in a 14-pin Molex™connector, a 4-pin Molex™ connector and a 3-pin connector.

Only the 14-pin Molex™ connector is connected to the host

machine using an adapter cable that connects to P1 on the

lterboard signal. The other 2 connectors are let ree.
