    • This installation manual explains the procedures for installing and setting up the DI Print and

    Data Writing Service for Fujifilm Digital Minilab FRONTIER Series as well as precautions for its

    use.

    • This manual should be kept in a fixed place near the machine so that it can be referred to at any

    time a point needs to be clarified.

    2.2.1 PC and Media Drive Preparations

    Prepare the PC, media drives, HUB, and the

    cables.

    1 PC that meets the following requirements:

    CPU : Pentium II 400MHz

    Hard disk : At least 9GB x 2 drives

    Memory : At least 256MB

    2 OSWindows NT4.0 Workstation SP6 or Windows

    2000 Professional SP2

    SCSI board must be installed beforehand.

    3 Media drives and cablesZip, Jaz, MO, CD-R, PC card, SSFDC, CF,

    Flatbed scanner, etc.

    (SD Memory Card, Memory Stick and Microdrive

    are supported only with Windows 2000)

    In Windows 2000, the USB connection is also

    available for the drive media except CD-R.

    However, the processing speed in USB connec- 

    tion is not assured, and correct assignment of

    drive name may not be done.

    Required CD-R drive types: 

    • YAMAHA CRW 400tx

    • YAMAHA CRW 4260tx

    • YAMAHA CRW 4416sx• YAMAHA CRW 6416sx

    • YAMAHA CRW 8424sx

    • YAMAHA CRW 8824sx

    • PLEXTOR CD-R/RW PX-W4012TS

    (For the above CD-R drives, SCSI connection

    is used with both Windows NT4.0 and Win-

    dows 2000)

    Make sure to use the SCSI connection for the

    CD-R drive.

    Required SCSI board: 

    • Adaptec 2940

    • Adaptec 2930LP

    • Adaptec 29160

    Required CD-R: 

    • Fujifilm CD-R

    Required scanner type: 

    • MICROTEK ScanMaker 4

    • EPSON Expression 1600• EPSON Expression 1680

    IMPORTANT: 

    Never use the CD-RW media instead of CD-R.

    4 HUB and two network cables to connect Frontierto HUB and HUB to Imaging Controller.

    5 CRT Monitor

    • Color Temperature: 6500° K

    • Resolution: 800 x 600 pixels or higher

    • Display Color: 32bit

    6 “Aspi” manager must be installed. If not, an errormay occur when starting “Data Writing” or “Print

    to Print” software. At the installation of the

    Windows NT, “Wnaspi32.DLL” is installed in the

    “System32” folder in the “Winnt” folder in the C

    drive, but it is not activated. To activate it, install

    and set up “Wnaspi32.DLL” using any of the

    following ways.

    (1) Install “EZ-SCSI(CD-ROM)” provided with

    “Adaptec 2940” SCSI board.

    (2) Install the writing software “EZ-CD creator”

    provided with the dedicated CD-R drives.

    (See “Recommended CD-R drive types”

    shown above.)

    2.2.2 Hard Disk Partition

    During the installation of Windows NT/Windows2000, partition your hard disk into two regions: one

    for the system and the other for order registration

    and spooling (Ex: 4GB for the system and 5GB for

    order registration). For details see the Windows NT/ 

    Windows 2000 setup manual.

    2.2.3 Virtual Memory Setting

    [In case of Windows NT]

    1 On the Desktop, choose [Start] - [Settings] -[Control Panel].

    2 Click the [System] icon in the “Control Panel”window.

    • The “System Properties” screen appears.

    3 Click [Change] under [Virtual Memory] on[Performance] tab.

    • The “Virtual Memory” screen appears.

    Select [Performance] tab.

    Click.

    Click.

    4 In the Drive list, click the drive you want tochange.

    5 Under “Paging File Size for Selected Drive”, type“500” in the Initial Size (MB) and Maximum Size

    (MB) boxes.

    If the “Paging File Size” is less than 500MB,

    make it more than 500MB.

    If it exceeds 500MB, make sure to allocate it

    more than the physical memory size.

     

    6 Click [Set].

    7 Click [OK].

    • Operation returns to the “System Properties”

    screen.

    8 On the “System Properties” screen, click [OK].

    • Operation returns to the “Control Panel” window.

    [In case of Windows 2000]

    1 On the Desktop, choose [Start] - [Settings] -[Control Panel].

    2 Click the [System] icon in the “Control Panel”window.

    • The “System Properties” screen appears.

    3 Click [Performance Options] on [Advanced] tab.

    • The “Performance Options” screen appears.

    4 Click [Change].

    • The “Virtual Memory” screen appears.

    5 In the Drive list, click the drive you want tochange.

    6 Under “Paging File Size for Selected Drive”,make sure that the Initial Size (MB) and

    Maximum Size (MB) are more than 500MB.

    If the “Paging File Size” is less than 500MB,

    make it more than 500MB.

     

    7 Click [Set].

    8 Click [OK].

    • Operation returns to the “Performance Options”,

    so click [OK] to return to the “System Properties”

    screen.

    9 On the “System Properties” screen, click [OK].

    • Operation returns to the “Control Panel” window.

    Click.

    Select the drive.

    Click.

    Click.

    Check if the initial size (MB)and maximum size (MB) aremore than 500MB.

    2.2.4 Computer Name Setting

    [In case of Windows NT]

    1 On the Desktop, choose [Start] - [Settings] -[Control Panel].

    2 Click [Network] in the “Control Panel” window.

    • The “Network” screen is displayed.

    3 Click [Identification] tab.

    4 Move the cursor to the Computer Name and click[Change].

    • The “Identification Changes” screen appears.

    5 In the [Computer Name] box, type “FRONTEND”and click [OK].

    • The confirmation message appears.

    6 Click [OK].

    • Operation returns to the “Network” screen.

    Select [Identification] tab.

    Click.

    Type “FRONTEND”.

    [In case of WIndows 2000]

    1On the Desktop, choose [Start] - [Settings] -[Control Panel].

    2 Click [System] in the “Control Panel” window.The “System Properties” screen is displayed.

    3 Click [Network Identification] tab.

    4 Click [Properties].

    • The “Identification Changes” screen appears.

    5 In the [Computer Name] box, type “FRONTEND”and click [OK].

    • The confirmation message appears.

    6 Click [OK].

    • Operation returns to the “System Properties”screen.

    Select [Network Identification] tab.

    Click.

    Type “FRONTEND”.

    2.2.5 Network Protocol Setting

    [In case of Windows NT]

    IMPORTANT: Make sure to use NetBEUI protocol.

    1 On the “Network” screen, click [Protocols] tab.

    2 Click “NetBEUI Protocol” in the NetworkProtocols and click [Close].

    • The “Network Settings Change” message

    appears.

    3 Click [No].

    4 If “NetBEUI Protocol” is not found in the “NetworkProtocols:”, register it.

    (1) Click [Add].

    (2) Select “NetBEUI Protocol” and then click

    [OK].

    (3) Complete the registration by following the

    messages given.

    [In case of Windows 2000]

    IMPORTANT: Make sure to use NetBEUI protocol.

    1 On the “Control Panel” screen, double-click[Network and Dial-up Connections].

    Select [Protocols] tab.

    Click.

    Click.Select [NetBEUI Protocol].

    Double-click.

    2 Click [Local Area Connection] icon and then click[Network Identification] tab.

    3 Double-click “Local Area Connection” icon.

    • The “Local Area Connection Status” screen

    appears.

    4 Click [Properties].

    5 Confirm if “NetBEUI Protocol” in the “Componentschecked are used by this connection:” is checked

    [ √ ], and if not, check [ √ ] it.

    6 If “NetBEUI Protocol” is not found in the“Components checked are used by this

    connection:”, register it.

    (1) Click [Install].

    (2) Click [Protocol], and then click the [Add]

    button.

    (3) Select [NetBEUI Protocol] and then click

    [OK].

    Click.

    Check if [NetBEUI Protocol] is checked [ √ ].

    If [NetBEUI Protocol] is not found, click [Install].

    Select [Protocol].

    Click.

    Select [NetBEUI Protocol].

    Click.

    2.2.6 Creating a User Account

    [In case of Windows NT]

    1 On the Desktop, choose [Start] - [Programs] -[Administrative Tools] - [User Manager].

    • The “User Manager” screen appears.

    2 In the User menu, click “New User”.

    • The “New User” screen appears.

    3 Type “FRONTIER” in both the [User name] and[Full Name] columns, and enter a password in

    both the [Password] and [Confirm Password]

    columns.

    • Check “Password Never Expires” box.

    4 Click [Groups].

    • The “Group Memberships” screen appears.

    5 Choose “Administrators” and click [Add].

    6 On the “Group Memberships” screen, click [OK].

    7 On the “New User” screen, click [OK].

    Type “FRONTIER”.

    [In case of Windows 2000]

    1On the “Control Panel” screen, double-click[Users and Passwords].

    2 Click [Advanced] tab.

    3 Click [Advanced].

    4 Select [Tree]-[Users].

    5 Select [New User···] from [Action] on the menubar.

    6 Type “FRONTIER” in [User name], [Full name],[Password] and [Confirm password:] columns.

    Remove the checkmark from “User must change

    password at next log-on”, and check [ √   ] “Pass- 

    word never expires”.

    7 Click [Create] and then click [Close].

    Double-click.

    Click [Advanced] tab.

    Click.

    Select [Tree]-[Users].

    Type [FRONTIER].

    Click [Create] then [Close].

    8 Select [FRONTIER] from the right-hand list (1),and then select [Properties] from [Action] on the

    menu bar (2).

    9 Click [Member Of] tab, and then click [Add···]

    10 Select [Administrators] on the “Select Groups”screen, and then click [Add] to add it to the list.

    And then click [OK].

    11 Click if “Administrators” exists in the list on[Member Of] tab of the [FRONTIER Properties]

    screen.

    12 Click [Apply] and then click [OK].

    Select [FRONTIER] (1).

    Select [Properties] (2).

    Select [Member Of] tab.

    Click.

    Select [Administrators].

    Click.

    Click if “Administrators” exists.

    Click [Apply] then [OK].

    2.2.7 Restarting

    1On the Desktop, choose [Start] - [Shut Down].

    2 In case of Windows NT, click “Restart thecomputer?” and click [Yes].

    In case of Windows 2000, select “Restart” and

    click [OK].

    [In case of Windows NT]

    • “(Build 1381: Service Pack 6)” is displayed in theupper right-hand corner of the Windows NT’s

    BLUE starting screen.

    • The settings take effect after restarting the com-

    puter.

    • Check if the Service Pack is properly installedusing the following procedures.

    1 On the “Control Panel” window, click [System]icon.

    • The “System Properties” screen appears.

    2 Check that the Service Pack 2 is displayed in the“System” on the “General” tab.

    3 Installation

    DI Print Service/Data Writing Software Ver.5.5 can only be operated in the following combination of the system

    or other optional software.

    FRONTIER 350/370 A1: System Software Ver.7.0 or later

    FRONTIER 390 A1: System Software Ver.7.0 or later

    FRONTIER 330/340 A1: System Software Ver.2.0 or later

    FRONTIER 355/375 A1: System Software Ver.1.5 or later

    IMPORTANT: Printing (including negative printing) cannot be performed during the installation.

    IMPORTANT: Before starting the installation, perform the post-operational check, and shut down the FRON- 

    TIER. Do not shut it down by using the emergency stop button.

    IMPORTANT: Before updating the “DI Print/Data Writing Service Software [C4/C5]” from Ver.4.5, Ver.4.6 and

    Ver.5.0 to Ver.5.5, make sure that there are no orders in the DI Print [C4] and Data Writing [C5]

    services, then close the [C4/C5]. When orders remain in the [C4/C5], complete the printing and

    writing first, then start updating.

    If you start updating while the orders remain in [C4/C5], they will be deleted.

    By installing the Backup Order Function, the

    following functions can be used.

    • New services (devices) are added. The following

    devices are added to the Digital Service Selec-

    tion list.

    • Picture RotationThe radio buttons for selecting the upper side

    are added to the frames on the Image List

    screen. To display these radio buttons, add the

    checkmark [ √ ] to [Yes] box on [Picture Rotate]

    on the Writing Service - Administration screen.

    NOTE: 

    If the Backup Order Function is installed, process- 

    ing may be slower because the back-up processing

    from the registered devices is done each time it is

    executed.

    NOTE: 

    This function cannot be uninstalled.

    To disable this function, edit (comment-out) the

    device for backup order function that is defined in

    When [Auto.] button is turned ON, select a type of the automatic transactions on

    Automatic processing to the stage to “Order Registration”. The registration is

    completed simply by selecting media.

    4 Back Print Select if the Back Printing is to be done or not. Add a checkmark [ √ ] to select it.

    5 Default Print Q’ty Sets the default number of prints, index print and large index print sheets to be

    output.

    6 Key Step Set the CMYD key steps used on the “View and Order” screen (Recommended

    values: CMY: 3, DcDmDy: 5).

    7 Machine ID Identifies the multiple Imaging Controllers with this ID (a character of an alphabet

    except “N” and “R”). This ID is added to the head of the order number.

    8 Auto Correct - Disable If this is checked [ √ ], the auto correction is not applied to the image.

    9 Help Displays the help screen.

    10 Version Info. Displays the version information about this Software.

    11 Statistic Log Stores the statistic information for each registered image data file into the FD, and

    monitor them.

    12 Monitor Adjust Displays the “Monitor Adjust” screen and matches the color balance of the monitor

    to the print on the “View and Order” screen.

    13 Master Balance Set the color master balance for printing for each print service. Normally set “0”.
