Matariki: Last Friday our children had the opportunity to watch the

Matariki te Riu o Puanga. (Celebrating the Stars) show at TAS.

Jerome Kavanagh shared several different types of Maori musical instruments

and the sounds they made. He also shared stories related to the instruments.

One was about a beached mother and baby whale. The tooth he used for an

instrument came from the mother whale. Another was about a butterfly.

Jerome also used a puppet that liked to dab to tell a legend. It was an

interesting morning.

WEKA KIDS CORNER: Hello and welcome to weka kid’s corner.

Last Wednesday we went to the Koha Shed in Whanganui. We looked at their garden and Annie showed us around and gave us a few tips about using vertical space and also crop rotation. We went inside their shop where we all were allowed to take a souvenir home. After we went to the Koha Shed we went to Kowhai Park, had lunch and played for half an hour. We then went to the Splash Centre and stayed there for an hour. We all played Marco Polo in the pool and had turns going down the hydro slides. It was a fun day.
