January 2011 January 2011 January 2011 January 2011 1 Dear Hearts, I came across this passage recently: In support of that light during this holy time of dark- ness may we remember that "When the going gets tough, we get what we practice.” If you do not have a practice that connects you with a light that sustains you through hard times, this winter is an excellent time to travel within to reflect on what qualities of Being you want to grow in your life. What is your sense of mission and purpose; why you are here; what gifts you bring to share with others, that in so doing will bring you a sense of meaning and fulfillment - light through darkness. (Source unknown) As the days of sunlight grow longer we are moving back into the light. Our practice en- ables this to be a conscious movement. Best wishes for the New Year to be filled with Peace and Light and Love. Ishwara and I will share the teaching of the next Suluk class. It will be at 10:00- 12:30, January 23rd at Ishwara’s home. In this class we will continue to explore the Chakras and deepen our concentration on the Breath. If you are a mureed, have not come to a Suluk class and want to attend, please call me at 887-5916. Dear Hearts,

I came across this passage recently: In support of that light during this holy time of dark-

ness may we remember that "When the going gets tough, we get what we practice.” If you do

not have a practice that connects you with a light that sustains you through hard times, this

winter is an excellent time to travel within to reflect on what qualities of Being you want to

grow in your life. What is your sense of mission and purpose; why you are here; what gifts you

bring to share with others, that in so doing will bring you a sense of meaning and fulfillment -

light through darkness. (Source unknown)

As the days of sunlight grow longer we are moving back into the light. Our practice en-

ables this to be a conscious movement. Best wishes for the New Year to be filled with Peace

and Light and Love.

Ishwara and I will share the teaching of the next Suluk class. It will be at 10:00- 12:30,

January 23rd at Ishwara’s home. In this class we will continue to explore the Chakras and

deepen our concentration on the Breath. If you are a mureed, have not come to a Suluk

class and want to attend, please call me at 887-5916.

With all love and light, Amira

Can You Help? Primavera Meal

The “Friends of Primavera” will be serving a meal to the

homeless men of Primavera Shelter on the 4th Friday of

the month—January 28, 2011.

This is an opportunity to share our message of com-

passion and friendship with a few of the many who are in

need. If anyone would like to participate or make a donation to

support the meal program, please contact me.

Always in love and light, Aisha 742-5182

Dear Friends,

We will gather to bring in light, sacred-ness and healing on Friday, January 14 at 10 AM. Please join us in our Universal

Worship and Healing Service.

I am especially grateful for this time when our light and love are magnified as we come together for the purpose of healing and sharing inspiration. If you would like to come for the first time or if you want to put someone's name on our healing list,

please call me at 795-9250.

Wishing you all renewal and healing

in the New Year.

Love, Rafia

TEAHOUSE FOR THE SOUL MEETING

Sunday, January 2, 10:00 am to Noon

Ishwara’s house 4737 E. Cecelia Street

Just east of Swan, between Broadway and 22nd St.

Phone 325-1854

Please bring a snack to share.

This month we are honored to have two special

guests at the Teahouse. Zamiat Colby from IAM will

tell us stories she heard from Mary, Pir Vilayat’s wife,

when she was in Suresnes working with Sharif

Graham on Murshid’s papers this summer. Each story

will be accompanied by a brief meditation.

Wahiduddin, whose wonderful website is a

resource for many aspects of our Sufi tradition, will

join her. He is also a singer and dance leader, and

will lead us in song to deepen the teachings of the

stories we hear. This is an outstanding opportunity

to immerse ourselves in the history and meaning of

our tradition, and set the tone for the New Year.

Our holiday party was a lovely event. Thank you

to Rafia, Mehrbakhsh, and Johara who lead concen-

trations and to all of us who connected in joy. Next

month we will return to Salat. We left off about half

way through the male Masters, Saints and Prophets,

and will go on from there, focusing with Sharif

Graham’s commentaries as a guide to meditation.
