Last Meeting we:• Looked at the why by reviewing school

demographics.• Mr. Cox linked the Choice Committee Work

with the Master Plan and Bond Referendum• Dr. Kokolis gave us a brief history of Choice

and Magnet School in Rock Hill Schools• We defined terms• We looked at three options, staying the

course, implementing magnets and schools of choice, or rezoning.

Laser Focus on the Committee Mission

• What is the role of choice and magnet schools in Rock Hill Schools?

• Are choice and magnet schools a viable option to rezoning?

Planning time and lunch for Specialists

Professional Learning Time

• 4 classes need to have 50 min to an hour to have common planning time for PLC

• Class I Art• Class 2 Music• Class 3 PE• Class 4 Guidance &

Media

Over-enrolled Schools

• Adding a 5th class• Not enough places to put the children

during specials for PLC time• Getting itinerant support for Physical

Education• Must accept the support when time is

available.

• Odd numbers makes pairing and partnering difficult

• Staffing is easier

Under-enrolled Schools

• Smaller schools may have to loose specialist’s services to the larger schools?

• Makes scheduling the PLC time a challenge

• Schools with an odd number of teachers makes it difficult to plan and share

• Staffing is very difficult
