Madeline Lake Trail System Northern Highland American Legion State Forest Welcome! Madeline Lake Trail System is a remote-seeming hop, skip and a jump away from the amenies of Minocqua and Woodruff. The trailhead is located just off of Rudolph Road, north of County Highway J heading east from the juncon of County Highway 47. There are no restroom facilies. There are roughly 10 miles of wide trails split into four designated routes, some of which used to serve as logging roads. On parcularly breezy summer days, visitors can enjoy the sound of trembling aspen trees – the natural Wisconsin wind chime. In winter, the deafening silence is oſten broken by wind whistling through stands of pine. Picturesque lake overlooks are tucked along the trail for those with a lile me to spare. A fire ring and ski shelter are available for cross-country skiers or anyone needing temporary shelter while on the trail. Please note that a State Trail Pass is required for skiers and cyclists, and leashed pets are welcomed spring, summer and fall. The Madeline Lake Trail System can help you get away from it all, whether your passion is jogging, hiking, off-road biking, or cross-country skiing in winter. Trail Rules • A Wisconsin State Trail Pass is required for skiers and bikers 16+ years old on designated trails. • Pets are allowed on all trails once the snow is gone. Biking is allowed where designated. • Pets need to be on a leash no longer than eight feet at all mes. Carry out all pet waste. • Carry out all lier on departure. • No biking, hiking or snowshoeing allowed on the groomed ski trails during the winter months. • No motorized vehicles allowed. • Pit fires are permied at shelters. Exnguish all fires before leaving. • A lost and found service is maintained at Crystal Lake and Clear Lake Visitor Staons. If lost items are found, please turn them in at one of these visitor staons. Help us return items to their righul owners.
