1- I NTRODUCTION This unit examines how various representations of data can be extended to provide different ways of using them, and how different representations can be combined in an organized manner. It aims to : Reinforce what you learned in Unit 2 about representations and formats Show you how to apply styling to text using a mark-up language called HTML Explain what hypertext is and show how HTML can be used to produce hypertext documents Show how HTML can be used to integrate different forms of data (such as graphics) into a multimedia display Study how recent advances in mark-up languages (such as XML) facilitate greater degrees of integration and sharing 3
