Introduction: G.MDSP
1. Describes end-to-end protection across multiple cascaded protected domains to support service survivability.
2. This is achieved via concatenation of multiple protection instances/segments in each protected domain.
Geneva, Switzerland, 2 13 July 2013 3
Introduction: G.MDSP(cont’d)
4. Both single node and dual node interconnection between protected domains are described.
3. Each protected domain may be in a different administrative domain and support protection using either the same or different layer networks.

Study points
Geneva, Switzerland,13 July 2013 8
• End-to-end service survivability along the concatenated protected domain for each case:
• Identify domain interactions
• Node failure analysis (restrict to one domain, adjacent domains)
• Possible hold-off timers (end-to-end, per domain, technology dependent)
Conclusion
Geneva, Switzerland,13 July 2013 9
The main objective for development of this recommendation is to define the
interworking of protection mechanisms
This is work in progress inQ9/SG15
