Greetings theatre-lovers, Lyric supporters, and I hope

new friends! I’m Michael Baron, Lyric Theatre’s new

Artistic Director, and I am excited and proud to make

Oklahoma City my home. I have recently come from

Washington, D.C. where I worked at the 2009 Tony

Award-winning Signature Theatre, which like

Lyric, is known for producing world-class musicals

and award-winning plays. I invite you to come take

an exciting journey with me as Lyric presents the most

ambitious season ever in its 47 year history. Our new

season includes 8 brand-new productions, 6 of which

Lyric has never produced before!

I can’t wait for you to enjoy the sweet country sounds

of Always. . . Patsy Cline, laugh at the hysterical

Tony Award-winning comedy Boeing Boeing, revisit

Dickens’ classic musical tale Oliver!, dance with the

kids of Hairspray, experience the emotional American

journey of Ragtime, share the hopes of A Chorus

Line, raise the roof with the Altar Boyz, and celebrate

the holidays with a new musical production of A

Christmas Carol.

I promise you a year full of the very best talent the

American theatre has to offer. So come experience

all of the singing, dancing, storytelling, and even a

snow-filled theatre as only Lyric, Oklahoma’s leading

professional theatre, can give you.

See you in the lobby!

Message froM the artistic director

do you love beautiful singing? do you Marvel at fantastic dancing? do you get swept away by powerful storytelling? and do you get excited when it’s live on stage? Me too!

one fan, Louise Seger. Having first heard Cline on

“The Arthur Godfrey Show” in 1957, Seger became

an immediate and avid fan constantly hounding the

local disc jockey to play Cline’s records on the radio.

Their relationship, which began as fan worship,

evolved into one of mutual respect for one another.

Fasten your seatbelts and take a first-class flight with

Lyric Theatre as it presents the 2008 Tony Award-

winning Best Play Revival, Boeing Boeing. Enjoy

this hilarious 1960s romp, immortalized by Jerry

Lewis and Tony Curtis on film. Bernard, an architect

living in Paris, has been successfully juggling three

international flight attendant fiancés, Gabriella,

Gloria and Gretchen, with his housekeeper reluctantly

playing romantic air-traffic controller as they fly in

and out of his swank bachelor pad. A new, faster

Boeing jet is introduced to the mix, and things get

rather turbulent as schedules change, flights are

delayed and chaos ensues in this whirl of mayhem

and matchmaking. You’ll love this hilarious farce.

Hailed as “high-octane entertainment,” Altar Boyz
