ownCloud for Windows Lyman Briggs Data Backup Solution ownCloud OwnCloud is an open platform networking and digital drop box service stored locally on MSU campus. By using ownCloud you will be able to keep backups of important files in the local cloud, and share important files between all machines running ownCloud. Installing ownCloud allows your files to be periodically updated to the cloud. Anything that is placed in this local folder will also be put in the cloud. Anything placed in the cloud will be placed on all machines running an ownCloud client that you are signed into. The local files and the files on the cloud will always try to be the same. If you delete or add anything to the ownCloud local file or cloud file, that file will be added or deleted from any system running ownCloud you are signed into. Before you begin make sure that you have received your ownCloud Username and password. Downloading ownCloud 1. Go to https://owncloud.com/products/desktop-clients/ 2. Enter your username and password that you received 3. Your browser will ask if you wish to save the file. Allow your browser to save the file.

BeforeyoubeginmakesurethatyouhavereceivedyourownCloudUsernameandpassword.

DownloadingownCloud

1. Gotohttps://owncloud.com/products/desktop-clients/2. Enteryourusernameandpasswordthatyoureceived

3. Yourbrowserwillaskifyouwishtosavethefile.Allowyourbrowsertosavethefile.

4. Findthedownloadedfileinthedownloadsfolder.Doubleclicktheapplicationtorunit.

5. Aninstallationwizardwillopen.ClickNext

6. Leavealloptionsonthisscreenchecked.Clicknext.

7. Onthispage,youaredesignatingwhereownCloudwillinstallandsyncfilesto.Thiswillbethefolderyouplacefilesinifyouwantthemtobesyncedtothecloud.Takenoteofthefilelocation,soyoucanfindthisfolderwhenyouwishtosyncandsave

files.

8. OwnCloudwillnowinstall,clicknextwhenfinished.

9. MakesurethatRunownCloudischecked,thenclickfinish

10. OwnCloudwillnowopen.Itwillfirstaskyoutoinputtheserverwhereitwillbesyncingyourfiles.Theaddressishttps://files.lbc.msu.edu/.Entertheaddressinthefieldandclicknext.(Imagebelowisincorrectforlocation,useabove)

11. Nowinputyourusernameandpasswordthatyoureceivedintherequiredfieldsandclicknext.

12. OnthispageselectSkipfoldersconfiguration.

13. ownCloudwillthenappearinthetoolbarinthelowerrightcornerofthescreen.ClickontheicontoopenthesettingspageforownCloud.

18. HerewehaveselectedtheDocumentsLibraryasthefolderwewishtosync.Youmaychooseanyfolderyouwanttobesyncedandbackedup.

19. NowthatyouhaveselectedthefolderyouwishtosyncclickNexttocontinue.

20. NowwehavetochoosethefolderthatthelocalfileswillbeplacedinonownCloud.InthisexamplewewillcreateafolderonowncloudcalledDocumentstowhichwewillsyncourlocalfileentitleddocuments.TodosoclickCreateFolder.

21. Onthisscreenyouwillenterthenameofthefolderyouarecreating.InthiscasewehavenameditDocumentstomatchthefolderwearesyncing.ClickOKtocontinue.

22. Selectthefolderyoucreated,inthiscaseDocumentsandclicknexttocontinue.

23. Selectthefoldersyouwishtosync,inthiscase,therearenone,asthefolderisbrandnew.OnceyouhaveselectedthesubfoldersclickAddFolder.

24. ThefolderyoucreatedwillattempttoconnecttoownCloud.Onceitconnectsagreencheckmarkwillappear.Likeinthebelowexample.Ifyouwishtoaddmorefolderstosync,repeatsteps16to24.
